What I love about this is that AB is genuinely star struck but still manages to pull it out if the bag and give a good performance

I love how in awe she is and how she tries to compose herself whilse next to her. That was back when they had proper singing celebrities in for the finale. Now you can sing with Clean Bandit....
I could definitely see Alexandra play Deena when the show eventually goes out on tour.

She has a powerful raspy voice. She'd be more suited for Effie

I could see her being a good Effie but I don't think she fits the role physically?
That Beyoncé duet still gives me goosebumps!! Amazing and I agree that she is so star struck which is lovely to see her sing with her idol and one of the biggest superstars ever!!

Well. That's quite a show isn't it? Absolutely brilliant, with the second act in particular completely NAILING it. It works soooo much better on stage than on film doesn't it? Favourite moment... that moment in I Am Changing. OMG. And that crystal curtain was EVERYTHING. It was just fabulous. It's a brilliant show, yes. But I think the film represents the passage of time more effectively and also contextualises the racism and wider social issues much more intelligently.

I'm sure this has been discussed but I couldn't find an answer (I promise I tried looking). Does Amber do the Saturday Matinee or is it one of the alternates?

Teacher..... dancemom...... babe.......Sylvia Young. You have accused me of being all of the above. You might be correct on more than one count. Now we'd better shut up and get back on topic before someone from Admin gives us a slap....

Broadway works has suggested Sonia Friedman is already looking for a Broadway Theatre.
The article says it'll be "almost impossible to replace Riley if she doesn't return" but surely the great reviews the alternates have been getting means there must be loads of fabulous Effies out there, famous or not

It's from a Michael Riedel piece.. he has a cheek saying us brits never give a standing ovation! So shoot us for wanting a show to earn it.
I'm surprised he said they won't be able to find anyone to play Effie there, NYC is crawling with talent. I hope her health improves though so she gets to do it there- and walk away with a Tony.

The article says it'll be "almost impossible to replace Riley if she doesn't return" but surely the great reviews the alternates have been getting means there must be loads of fabulous Effies out there, famous or not I expect she'd want someone famous, or at least known on Broadway. I'd love to see Cynthia Erivo do it but she's not the right build for the character. I wouldn't be surprised if they offered it to Jennifer Hudson given she was overlooked for a Tony nomination for The Color Purple and might fancy her chances with this one! And obviously they'd sell huge numbers of tickets on her name and history with the show alone... Alternatively, Danielle Brooks showed her singing creds in TCP as well if they could fit it around her Orange is the New Black filming. Plenty of options for leads on Broadway, so I think that article's a bit wrong!

Would anyone know when Amber's last performance be? I would love to string this along with the first preview of Hamilton on November 21st (a day before my birthday!). If I recall correctly the first preview of Dreamgirls was also around this time in 2016, so I would think her last show would also be around the same week but a year from it.

Any word on a cast recording? Why Deena, we are honoured! *kisses hem of bejewelled frock* No word yet. If they follow the same pattern as Funny Girl it won't be for ages either.

If anyone is intending to stage door they must ask this million dollar question.

Thanks! Its nice to be here! My first Broadway show was Dreamgirls with the original cast, um... 35 years ago! LOL. Dying to get over to London to see it! Can someone please tell me how the Opening of Act 2 is staged and what song(s) they use?
