Do they really need a statement? It's peak season for people getting ill. Most people can probably work when they've got a cold etc but you can't exactly sing Effie!

You guys... I just saw it.  Unexpectedly, daniel . won the lottery but couldn't go, so he offered me the ticket. And you guys, this isn't just good, it is a whole other level! Marisha was on, her second performance and there are no words, she was outstanding. More than that, phenomenal! Do not miss this woman, her voice is insane. Sure people may get annyoed with the cheering during songs etc, but damn it she earns it! Her And I Am Telling You had all 3 levels on their feet before the last note even ended, and Listen also recieved a standing ovation from some and I Am Changing stopped the show! It was just incredible! I would go as far as to say, possibly the best performsnce from an actress I have ever seen, and that says alot with the likes of Imelda Staunton, Sheridan Smith, Rachel Tucker and Louise Dearman on your top list! The rest of the cast are brillaint all around. Such powerful vocals and talent! The design it stunning too, I loved the costumes( that I Am Changing moment tho!) especially for The Dreams. And those crystal curtains that come down got their own applause it was that beautiful! Do not miss this show, steal a ticket if you have to. It is 5 stars all around!  |

I wish someone would say something negative about this show to talk me out of booking another trip to London. I need to see this asap.

This is good news - I booked all those months ago especially to try and see Amber, but in the lucky lottery of who gets to play Effie tonight, it sounds like Marisha would be a great result! I wonder who we will get?!

Who is the 'main' alternate then - Karen or Marisha?
I wonder if Amber will be back for the NYE show for tomorrow's matinee?
When she does return, I'd be surprised if he producers don't cut her shoes from 7 to 6 a week giving both alternates a show a week. They should do it for Amber's sake too to save her voice. I hope she's on for my visit in Feb!!

Although interestingly, on her twitter bio, Karen does credit herself as the Alternate/Standby Effie. So assuming she had permission to put that, she is the one in the building should something go wrong on the night.

I'm guessing the slip is just because Marisha isn't in the programme at all, whilst Karen is. But the promoting of Marisha in the role was everywhere yesterday, there were A4 posters promoting it everywhere you looked in the foyers and bars. There was this horrible queen behind me who was saying to his friend something like "I can't believe they didn't call us and tell us Amber wasn't on, we didn't pay to see this, we paid Amber Riley prices, not anyone else!". The best part then being, when Marisha ran on for her first scene, every person around him, myself and some of his friends who clearly thought he was being disrespectful too, cheered and applauded her.  |

I know people going tomorrow. I know they probably don't even know who Amber Riley is and they are going for the show but I would've liked them to have seen Amber due to the amazing reviews she's getting - however it's looking highly unlikely she'll be on.
They should enjoy the show no matter what and it'd be nice to hear their views on Marisha.

I also saw it last night, and although I was upset not to see Amber, Marisha more than made up for it, she was fantastic and thoroughly deserved her standing ovation mid song! Adam J Bernard as Jimmy is the stand out for me, he has to get an Olivier for this!

It will be interesting to see if Amber will win the Olivier over Glenn and Sheridan? I tend to think she will, but the more she is out, the less chance it is for the voters to see her.
Is Marisha just in for a bit or is she a new permanent standby?

I doubt they would be able to drop Karen and Ruth (Karen for certain) because she would've signed a contract? I am so shocked Ruth has never been on and that makes me confused. If Amber isn't on tomorrow, then I hope the people I know going get to see Marisha because of the amazing response she got! |
