This is a very confusing saga, any idea when Amber is back?

Keep the faith...you never know...She is off today and probably both shows tomorrow (she is off the night show anyway per her schedule), so I am thinking she may be back on Thursday

I know it is upsetting when an understudy is on for a role you want to see the original performer play (Amber) but how is Karen in the role? Saw the show last night through a lottery win. Heard lots of people moaning before the show re:Amber but Karen was actually really good. She got huge applause and standing O by end. Liisi was back on for Deena in the evening performance after missing the matinee and previous shows and took a while for me to warm to her. Not a huge fan of her voice until Listen. Second Cover on for Lorrell who was great apart from one messsed up line in a song. Either the guy playing Curtis was quite ill or he simply is miscast as he struggled on almost every high note. Lily Fraser was disappointing as Michelle which is a shame as I've loved her in other shows. Other standouts were Tyrone Huntley and Adam J Bernard - both have amazing voices and acted well. Overall, I enjoyed the show and there were some amazing moments but the score can get a bit samey and shouty in places. May go again to see if Amber is much better but I think she's more likely to be on a par.

I found Karen's performance to be highly adequate. I don't think it had the star quality of Amber but in many ways I preferred the rougher edges to her vocal as compared to Amber's crystal clear voice
Her I Am Changing was probably my highlight. I find the new version of Listen far too shouty (though I think much of the score is excessively shouty)

There's no matinee today. It's tomorrow instead.

Karen is on tonight per West End Understudies Twitter but that is her scheduled performance so that isn't a surprise. Why hasn't Ruth gone on? Very strange....

The cast that appears seems more of a day stage lottery than the day seat lottery!
As I've said before if you get a cheap lottery seat and live locally and have the opportunity to see the show again, it's no big deal if Amber is not on! However, if you have travelled and paid top dollar for a special occasion and not likely to be able to see the show again it is a different matter......

I wonder if Amber and Karen were both off whether they'd cancel the show again.

I wonder if Amber and Karen were both off whether they'd cancel the show again. I doubt that because they have Ruth, the 3rd alternate and also Candace back up too. Candace has been on as Lorell for the last few nights so would probably be able to go on as Effie too as she is 1st cover. I just want to know what's going on. So Lissi is back as Deena, is Ibinabo back as Lorell yet and does anyone know when Amber will be back as Effie?

I'm not even gonna lie, I will be gutted if Amber isn't on when I go. Usually I am not fussed at all about seeing an understudy, I enjoy it. But when the star gets the amazing reviews Amber has got, and the alternate hasn't got the greatest of reviews, I would be a bit gutted if when I go, Amber wasn't on. Fair enough Karen is apparently better than she was bit still, just my opinion.

I TOTALLY agree...plus, Amber will be on the CD, so when you listen to it and you didn't see her, it will bring back the sadness that you felt. Hopefully Amber will be back tomorrow night I would think...

I'd love one so much - I asked one of the FOH staff earlier this month and she said that there is one but they don't stock it. I got the impression she thought I was referring to the OBCR though.

I heard rumblings a while back that there would be one but with this cast, I don't see how they can go without a CD....it would make a ton of money for Ms. Friedman as everyone at the theater would buy it nightly.

Do you guys know if the Savoy does standing room?
I'll be in London for the weekend and all performances are sold out this week.
Is TodayTix really the only way to get tickets for the next couple days?
I don't really want don't to count on luck.

TodayTix lottery or Returns Queue are your best bets I'm afraid! My advice if you're wanting to see it and willing to pay is to check the angencies first - Ticketmaster etc may still have tickets, albeit with booking fees. Plan B, get to the Box Office when it opens, they may have returns, if not ask them what time the returns queue can start later in the day. Even if no tickets come back, it's not unheard of for Box Offices to sell House/Company Seats late in the day. Of course will be top whack, but when needs must...

Thanks for the insight Daniel, but not even Ticketmaster have any availability for this week. I'm really willing to see the show (and pay for it), but there's absolutely no tickets online. Do you guys know if the Returns Queue is out in the cold or there's a way to wait inside by the box office? I've never been to the Savoy.

I would get there as early as you're willing to, be prepared to wait and be prepared to pay, and hopefully you'll get lucky

Heading to London from the midlands right now to see the matinee this afternoon so fingers crossed for Amber, will be gutted if she's still off as payed for premium ticket and heading down specially but I can always come down again but still.... fingers crossed! Also does anyone know the running time, can't find it anywhere on the official site and my train back up north is 6pm. It's usually fine but would like peace of mind.
