New trailer being filmed today, and hopefull, as Marisha, Brennyn and Asmeret are in their "Move" outfits, we will get an actually get a trailer rather than three seperate clips of "One Night Only", "Steppin' to The Bad Side" and "Dreamgirls" badly edited together and called a trailer. I've watched Marisha's instastory and "I'm Lookin' For Something Baby", "Move", "Steppin' to The Bad Side", "Dreamgirls", "And I Am Telling You" and "One Night Only" were filmed, so at least thats something!  |

I don't want to sound rude but I hope Karen can deliver this wow factor for them that I always felt when I first went I know what you mean. I assumed I would see Marisha or Moya on a Wednesday matinee, but ended up with Karen. At first I was gutted as I was not impressed at all by any audios or things I had heard unlike the others, but then was pleasently surprised. It didn't help the audience was a bit dead (both in numbers and in response at the end of songs) to curb the enthusiasm, but she sang the songs great and thats the main thing. A bit ropey with the accent on certain words but you live and learn haha. The worst part of this current cast is the male ensemble. Honestly, bar the two white guys who were on point, they were giving me nothing. Hopefully it was just an off day and you'll enjoy them, but there was no energy, enjoyment or excitement. The only thing coming off of them was sweat which was ironic considering they were doing the bare minimum they could get away with. |

Is Moya off this week? I was going to go on Friday specifically to see her, but if she's not on I won't bother - she's the only one of the leads I'm interested in seeing.

It’s pretty much a case of what “type” of Effie you want to see really. Karen is my personal favourite but this usually varies from person to person. I believe Moya is still doing Fridays show as she just came back from a holiday and I am pretty sure she’s not sick? |

I thought ‘Fake your way to the top’ was extremely painful to listen to. I haven’t seen Tosh as Jimmy, for anyone that has was this just an off performance? |

Interestingly I didn’t think Tosh sounded too bad - I thoroughly enjoyed his portrayal live too!
I’ve also just noticed (not sure if it’s been mentioned yet) that the website now breaks down which Effie will be doing specific Wednesday mat/eves.

Was in London with a cousin on Wednesday and was standing outside the TKTS looking for something to see when I received a phone call from TodayTix saying I had got a pair of lottery tickets that had come back! I quickly snapped them up as this was the show my cousin really wanted to see- whereas I wasn't in a rush to return. I had seen the show 3 times prior to this; the first and second time I absolutely loved it whereas the third time was like watching a completely different show. The ensemble felt tired, there was hardly any atmosphere in the theatre and for me, it was a real shame. To see a production you've fallen in love with becoming so boring was such a letdown.
Nonetheless, the tickets were booked and we walked down to the strand to pick up tickets. We got into the theatre hella late as always and just made it to our seats, and the show was in fine shape.
It was quite emotional for me to watch this time for some reason; it had been a year since first seeing it (nearly) and so much had happened in my life and every word that was sung reminded me of something/someone. It was like I was watching it for the first time again- feeling the way I did back last year when I got to see it. The auditorium was packed for a cold January night and the atmosphere was electric. Brennyn was incredible; her voice was soulful and I fell in love with it. Marisha sounded wonderful, whoever said that she is sounding a bit rusty from doing more shows does not have ears. I'm so happy this show is looking good again and I do hope we have a little longer with it in the west end.
Wedensday night remineded me why I love theatre so much.

Wasn’t keen on Marisha’s performance of IAC, then again I don’t think that song is one of her highlights anyway in the show (I am a big fan of her AIATY in recent performances). Karen slayed her 2 worder as always. What a nice surprise for DG to do something like this, especially live.

Boy, that Facebook clip is pretty heavy sledding. Can't Tosh (whose voice sounds totally shot) just sing the part as opposed to offering unneeded vocal curlicues on every note which completely wreck the breakneck excitement of the song? One wonders what Henry Krieger would think.

First time, he was great. Second time, he was pretty bad actually, but he had to take the show aftsr off due to illness so I put it down to that. I've never quite gotten thr hype around him personally with this show or any I have seen him in, but he is good in the role. Not a patch on Adam though. |
