The most extraordinary thing about it (amongst so many) was the presence of her mum leaping up and down with excitement from the sidelines, exactly like Momma Rose and Dainty June !!!

Its worth noting though, that in fairness Ruth played in a smaller venue, was on some theatre fan radars because of the Dreamgirls curiosity and had a bit of familiarity from The Voice. Not much, but a little bit more than Marisha for the general public. That being said, by the sounds of it, it was clear from what has been said of that concert it was right for her to not be Effie. Where you in the concert? Why was it cringe and bad lol? I didn't go personally so I couldn't comment from a personal perspective, but i heard from a friend that went it just felt a bit awkward, she was going a bit crazy with the riffing and belting, even on the softer songs. More a desperation to prove herself an a natural performance. I'd be interested to hear more from those who went, so anyone who did, please report back

She’s such a good singer. Even better than Karen tbh. She just doesn’t know how to control it most of the times it’s a shame because she has such potential.

You've just answered your own query. Ruth doesn't know how to control her voice. If I was a producer of this show I would definitely choose someone with control over their own vocals over someone with very little control. I think Karen sounds quite good but I haven't heard Ruth sing a full song without losing the timing or control of her vocals.

Oh i didn't like it that scd performance. Neither Marisha or the new Deena impressed me much. It was good showcase for the show but it's a shame that the original cast had gone by this time.

Did anyone manage to go to last nights show? Really interested in what the understudys are like, especially all being on at once! Yep, i went to the matinee! Nicole as Deena, AMAZING! Like a younger Liisi just needed to be a bit more louder in a couple songs. She plays a very Kind Deena when I'm used to seeing the angry more growly side espeically in Heavy! i think she's better than Brennyn tbh but gotta give Brennyn more time to improve! Jayde was amazing as Lorrell just like watching a younger Asmeret! And Emma as Michelle, perfect! She looks so sweet and young on that stage so i felt bad for her when Effie was shouting in her face she looked so innocent bless her. I've seen the show 50 times now! Liisi will always be my Number 1 Deena! Miss her a lot!

What did you lot think about liisi? I MISS HER!! The show isn't the same without her, it's like she was apart of the show, like an element of the show is missing, i don't know whether that's because i saw her in the role around 35-40 times but still she will always be the best Deena in my eyes and i really hope she gets BWAY with Amber!!

Um, okay, let me have my own opinion. Maybe you've got the wrong Deena, are u sure you didn't see one of the understudies?

Why is it so hard to simply accept that someone doesn't think Liisi is the best Deena ever. I liked Joe Aaron Reid as Curtis but I know he's not everyone's cup of tea. Doesn't make my opinion less valid and doesn't mean those who don't like him are wrong either.

Um, okay, let me have my own opinion. Maybe you've got the wrong Deena, are u sure you didn't see one of the understudies? You need to accept that the whole point of a forum us for people to post their OPINIONS. People are entitled to disagree with you, you are not entitled to tell them their opinion is wrong, because opinions are never right or wrong, they're just subjective. And the number of times you have seen a show is completely and utterly meaningless - just because you've seen it multiple times doesn't give you any bragging rights over anyone else. Your inability to accept that people are allowed to think differently to you is getting really tiresome.

Booked to see this on a Friday. Seen Amber and Marisha in the role, loved Marisha’s acting and would’ve loved to have seen her again but seeing Moya this time. Anybody seen her yet? Is she good at both the acting and signing and as good as Marisha? Thanks!
Loved the Strictly performance, amazing group dance. Thought Brenyn sounded amazing too as Deena! Loved Liisi but Brenyn could be even better!

I wouldn't be surprised if they have a redo of some of the cast on Broadway (if the yransfer ever happens). If they go with Amber, they would have to start with an alternate who is promised two performanfes at least to avoid the whole "name above the title, offering refunds" nonsense. She didn't really help herself for most of her run in making the producers confident in that sense. I wouldn't be surprised to see Marisha go over to Broadway given her reviews and reliability in the role.
I actually wouldn't be surprised to see a switch of Deena. I too thought Liisi was amazing in the role, but if she is paired with Marisha, they are gonna want a star in their somewhere just to boost sales. If Marisha does get Broadway, I wouldn't be surprised to see Liisi be the one to get bumped out.

Just seen the video of the cast singing on Strictly. I was convinced twice was enough to see Dreamgirls but I need to see the new cast. Marisha sounds good, sloppy riffs but over all very good, but Brennyn sounds amazing.

I've only just watched it too... Marisha sounds amazing as always, and all four girls look stunning. But based on that performance, not meaning to just follow suit, Brennyn sounds way stronger vocally than Liisi. And Liisi was amazing in the role, so I can only imagine how Brennyn will be when I see the show next! What great promo for the show, the girls slayed!

It's not gonna be an official transfer, it will stay here, a production will just open on broadway, Amber has basically confirmed and Liisi has a high chance of getting it! Sonia said the other day she's not letting her go so we'll see what happens...

Brennyn's acting is far to enthusiastic in my opinion, a bit like Deena is on drugs mainly in Act 1, wasn't that keen, I personally prefer her understudy Nicole, but will give Brennyn time to grow, Liisi will always be my No.1 Deena no questions asked, the voice, the growls, the power, the emotion, the acting choices, EVERYTHING about Liisi's portrayal of Deena Jones was perfect in my eyes and no one can beat that...

I wasn't taken by the performance on SCD or the two new leads. Maybe i'll feel differently about them in the show itself. Though i don't really plan to go back until maybe the latter half of next year.
