Wow, she's awesome in this video. I remember her getting a lot of very harsh criticism when she first began in the role but it seems she has vastly improved. Would love to see her.

Wow, she's awesome in this video. I remember her getting a lot of very harsh criticism when she first began in the role but it seems she has vastly improved. Would love to see her. she got very harsh comments when she started i suspect due to producers only caring about Amber and Marisha leaving Karen to do the odd show when both of them were not able to do so, leaving her no chance of improving. I would also think Amber's absences in shows even though she was scheduled to go on but they saw Karen instead caused a stir, so people weren't here for Karen unfortunately leaving harsh comments. Keeping in mind this video was from about May-June this year so I would think she has improved now even more as she is one of the leads.

Decided to give cast change a miss on Saturday. Much as I lvoe the show, I know all the crazy fangirls are going to be sat either at the front or all over the Upper Circle, and I wanna be able to hear at least half of the show and we were planning ti be sat up there so I know I'd just get annoyed. I also have a feeling everyone is going to just be there for Amber and it is going to just turn into "Amber Riley: singing Dreamgirls" in concert, rather than the actual show, Also, much as I loved Amber in the role, I care more about Liisi leaving, and she is staying on an extra week anyway. That said, thats just my choice, I hope everyone else enjoys it?

Having just watched the video of Karen I was not overly impressed. I was one of the ones who did leave a fairly harsh criticism of Karen in the early days. This video in my eyes just sees her screaming the song. Her vocals are harsh and croaky. It is one of the reasons that I do not rate the show very much. The songs are shouted out mostly and often drowned out anyway by the cheering crowd. It often seems like a concert rather than a theatre show. Just my opinion though.

Just my opinion though. amber riley can sing flawlessly, no question about that. but the type of voice that should be of Effie should be something of Karen or Marisha, Amber's vocals are too light for the character. Just look at jennifer holiday, it was more like marisha.

Kulen is on to something. The whole reason Effie is sidelined (besides her physical attributes) is that her voice was too pop to crossover. Amber can belt her face off, but yes- she's still pop and has a silky smooth voice. The other two ladies have an edge and a raw quality to their voices that is what the character is all about. But..let's face it, as audiences we just want to hear someone sing the living daylights out of these numbers.

Does anyone know much about Day Seats for Dreamgirls? Do they have them for every performance, and whereabouts usually are the seats?

Does anyone know much about Day Seats for Dreamgirls? Do they have them for every performance, and whereabouts usually are the seats? They used to be Monday-Friday, £20, best seats they had available, but the info has vanished from the website so not sure now. @theatremonkey, any idea if it’s changed?

UPDATE: Day seats remain Monday to Friday only from the box office, all dates on todaytix. Be aware that tickets from the box office are very limited - perhaps non-existent - for the final days of this cast. I love your signature joke by the way. I think to work to it's best, it has to be said in a Hull/East Yorks accent!

For people wanting to see Moya's debut, she's just put on instagram today that it's 7 days until she debuts so you can narrow it down to 2 shows.

Someone ask Marisha and Karen if they are on Weds! I can see a Weds matinee and am happy to see either Karen or Moya!
BTW-- who is going to Amber's last on Saturday?

Moya replied to someone on twitter confirming she'll be on for the Wednesday evening show, may try and see whether I can make it down to London to see her debut

Oh interesting as I phoned up too and they told me they weren't doing day seats in person anymore - I think I was put through to the general ATG office though so they might have had the wrong information! Do you think there's much chance bothering to try and get day seats for tomorrow?

Moya has put in Twitter that on average she’ll be on Wednesdays and Fridays.
I’m assuming Marisha will do Thursdays and Saturdays? And Karen will do Monday & Tuesdays?

Do you think there's much chance bothering to try and get day seats for tomorrow? My information is direct from the actual theatre. If you can accept you may not get a ticket just because they are busy, and are happy to take a total chance, nothing to lose except your time, really . Do they give out day seats based on if they have any seats left (so for example, there are still seats left for tomorrow showing online and if they're still there tomorrow morning would they sell those as day seats?) or does it not work like that? Sorry this will be my last question I swear!

I'd guess it would be more Marisha does Tuesdays and Saturdays, Karen does Mondays and Thursdays. Then no one has two days in a row. Marisha and Moya get three shows, Karen gets two.

Why are you so sure that its Karen who gets 2 shows? ... I, didn't say I was sure? I'm just hazarding a guess on the schedule? Well put it this way, someone has to get two shows. And unless they have an alternating schedule for the alternates, then one girl is stuck with two, the others get three. Thats just how it is. Realistically, I'd be surprised if Marisha was the one who got only two, simply because of how much they have been pushing her into the forefront. She got her own pres night ffs! If she was the one to get two, I'd guess she would be the cover girl too, when one of the others gets sick she was the one to go on automatically. But I imagine if anyone is gonna get three, its her. The other two, I'm going off the basis that they had Moya come here from America to do it, so they wanna make her journey worth it and send her down the same path that Marisha has had. I just have a feeling Karen wil be the one to get kinda sidelined again this time around. I am to see all three tho, and can't wait!

I reckon it'll be alternating as they're properly rehearsing Nicole R D as a cover Effie, she just had a try on of the final costume the other day.

I just think there has to be some order to it. I think what they do now is what they intended to do originally with Marisha, Karen and Ruth before they discovered Ruth clearly wasn't ready (well, she thought she was, but thats a different matter!)

Sorry this will be my last question I swear! yes, if they’ve got more seats then than they think they can sell at full price, they’ll do day seats. Saturday is all but sold out, but even if there was say 10 seats left I wouldn’t expect them to offer day seats as they can probably be quite confident of shifting them at full price. All my humble opinion of course, don’t take my word as gospel

Oh so if it turns out to be that then, its what I predicted when the three ladies were first announced, Marisha with 4, the other with 2.
