It wasnt something just to be laughed off though. The muck ups you refer to at Wicked rarely if ever interrupt the flow of the performance. This clearly did!!

When I saw Oliver! It was Neil Morrissey playing Fagin. In his first scene he broke character, broke the fourth wall and made a comment to the audience about Bob The Builder, can you fix it?
If I didn't hate him to start with I certainly did then. I left at the interval.

I'm not going to defend myself against what I would and wouldn't haven't done if this had happened at Wicked (it's also become very obvious who you are as well after the 'I hate celebrities' remark. Let's leave it at this - the audio I saw of her singing Roxie was good - I don't have a problem with her playing Roxie as she's actually ok at it, it seems. I'd just like her to stick to that. Agree (also on its very obvious who Kathy123 is). Muck up matinees to me are a very self indulgent arrogant thing by performers, people paying £70 to see a show and they think it's OK to treat this performance as a joke. But at least most keep it to a barely recognisable level, in this case it's very unprofessional and shows a lack of respect to the cast and audience Also I think all Fagins in the last revival broke the 4th wall and made jokes that referred to their careers. Brian and Omid certainly did |

I saw a wicked show where Andy Mace was so full of himself that he changed the accent of dr dillamond and changed lines etc. How arrogant was that? It also affected the story greatly as it turned the bits where he is taken away into comedy!? Of course the obsessives found it hilarious and there was a competition as to who could laugh the loudest to show they "got it". I felt sorry for the audience that hadn't realised it was a "muck-up matinee" I have disliked Andy Mace since. If the cast are going to do something it should not affect the performance. I don't think Mel was that bad as Roxie is a comedic song anyway and she's sort of supposed to be speaking to the audience then anyway. |
