Strange to go for this after the enormous success of Dusty the Musical, the multimedia extravaganza that previewed for months from May 2015 at Charing Cross. Is this a similar production and whether it is or not, is there demand for it

No it doesn't, don't panic!
I hope Kingsley doesn't play it as crudely as she has all of her recent roles

Brrr...waste of Kingley's and Friedman's talents. I am so not a supporter of bio-jukebox musicals. I do like some jukebox musicals (a la Pricilla, Bodyguard, even Mama Mia was refreshing when it started), but not ones based on singers'/bands' life.

Let's give it a chance before asking what have we, what have we, what have we done to deserve this.

Well it's good you waited until the email announcement or else nothing would have been proved and your reputation would have been on the line. We've all been wishin' and hopin' for more Dusty news though, so thanks. Sorry for all the puns. You were only passing on some important information. What have you done to deserve this?

The distinct lack of Dusty-based musicals lately has been a concern, I must admit. Sometimes it seems like I only have to close my eyes and count to ten and another one has been announced. The sparkling script and sensational choreography of Son Of a Preacher Man has got me right up for this one though....

July is a littl3 while away still but this doesn’t look like it’s selling very well even at the weekend. Swathes of availability in the stalls. Over to you for some more Dusty puns...

In Sheffield it opens on Wednesday and has three matinees, so they've clearly decided what demographic it will appeal to!

Have booked for my wife and mother in law to go for one of the Sheffield Matinees - notice the balcony is not on sale at the moment. I hope this does well though, Katherine Kingsley is always worth watching.

Please tell me this has no connection with that appalling Charing Cross aberration. No absolutely nothing to do with the other productions a completely new musical written by Jonathon Harvey net him couple of weeks a go he was really excited about it said it’s his best writing

Is it just me that feels that artwork isnt the best? Subtle hints of trans in the representation of Dusty there.

The tour not coming anywhere near me (so far) but I have high expectations for this, although I am not a fan of the "juke box" musical. Jonathan Harvey is an excellent writer. Katherine Kingsley is fabulous and Maria Friedman would not direct a poor piece I wouldn't have thought.

I love both Katherine and Jonathan’s work, but the show is only visiting a handful of venues from what I can see. I would be going if it was anywhere nearby to me, but alas, not yet.

The cast of 20 now includes Rufus Hound, who is apparently a comedian, and Roberta Taylor from EastEnders and The Bill, though not recently.
If you sign up to the mailing list you can be the first to hear about "additional tour dates and future London performances".
