In the spirit of sharing more regional productions, this one which is technically 'Gig theatre' is also sort of immersive theatre. It's a well crafted piece that I can't fault performance wise. However it falls down a bit on meshing together it's music and narrative elements. Still though an interesting experiment of the calibre I'd expect from the company.

The first delight is The Other Room transformed into the Sinners Club. This theatre has spoiled us yet again. I always find it difficult to take in the lyrics of songs but here it didn't matter because every track was dramatically introduced and the music was as immersive as the production. The show is virtually a tribute to Ruth Ellis, without any special pleading. And Stephen Ward at last features satisfactorily in musical theatre. Sold out tonight. I was amused to see a party of four enter the theatre together at the last minute carrying wine glasses and wine in an ice bucket and be surprised to have to sit apart, dispersed around the Sinners Club. My knee was inches from the guitarist's fingers which enhanced the thrill of the evening.
