Also announced by Baz...
Not to be confused with the actor, Larry Lamb. Or that probably could've been just me.

They could cast Larry Lamb as Larry Lamb.

Haha, I had just checked! They put on the Almeida website on purpose to discredit me :-)

Feeling very odd... Almeida Priority opened this morning... I got in for both this and "The Treatment" WITHOUT ANY HASSLE AT ALL!!!!!! Hit the site about 10 minutes before booking opened, went to log in - and Q-it kicked in. Not only giving me a queue number, but telling me how many were in front and an estimated wait time. Number 4005, but actually only 85 ahead of me, and predicted entry at 10.02am. Sure enough, got in at that time, logged into my account. Then, miracle on miracle: was able to shop at my ease, for two plays, tickets to basket and checkout smooth as silk. First time that has EVER happened to me with the Almeida system, wonders will never cease. Next thing you know, we'll be leaving the EU and a Reality TV show presenter will be the US President. It really is as incredible as that, I predict. In fairness they haven't cast anyone who would cause a booking frenzy for these plays nor announced casting for Ink I suspect booking for Ben Wishaw might be a bit busier

This is true, parsley, but the system used to throw a wobbler if more than 2 people were on it at a time. The new software is a huge improvement, I think. I agree- booked on Tuesday and was easy and quicker than the old site which used to open multiple browser windows for no reason

You'll be relieved to hear normal service has been resumed - "Your queue number: 4943 Number of users in queue ahead of you: 519 Expected arrival time on the website: more than an hour Your estimated wait time is: more than an hour"

Queuing system seems to be the same as the National but with slightly different branding.
I agree it was a breeze. But as the day wears on, it's inevitable it will get busier.

Sounds good. Even a long queue is better than the previous website which would totally crash so nobody could get in

The Almeida's I.T. boffins have advised the new theatre policy of having short titles of plays (Oil, Hamlet, Ink) so as to free up memory space in their servers and speed up the system for all users.

I don't want to sound ungrateful because I have a ticket for the day and time I wanted but to me it hasn't dealt with the problems adequately. The system to limit the number of people coming in so it doesn't fall over, doesn't deal with the fact that it is still at risk from falling over.

I forgot about priority booking, went on at about 1-ish, had a ten minute wait and got the price and date of tickets I wanted, if not the location (we're split on one date and further back than I would like on the other.) They do a weird numbering thing so when I logged in it said something like you are customer number 1443, there are 48 people in the queue before you, your wait will be about 10 minutes. It was about ten minutes but I'm not sure what the first huge number meant. I didn't think there would be the scrum for these tickets as for Hamlet, Richard III or even Mary Stuart and I don't think there will be. But I'm really interested in 'Ink.'

Is it? I've got my preferred dates open in tabs in front of me, and when I refresh them I don't get a seating plan, just a message that priority booking is already open and public booking opens today.

Definitely. Maybe it's because I decided to login ready at just the right time.
EDIT: Hmm, that's weird, now I can't. Maybe someone pressed the wrong button or something!
EDIT 2: And back available again at 10am!

Wow, wonderful experience. Two minutes and the tickets are in my metaphorical pocket. Much better than last time when I lost five years of my life to get tickets for Mary Stuart...

Well, once 10am actually came around, that was delightfully easy. I got put in a queue in Internet Explorer, but Chrome let me through to the seating plan straight away. Hope this is a good omen for May!

Have been in queue since about half nine and quite some way from the front, so did you lot get lucky or am I just unlucky?

Maybe they're actually doing it as a an actual queue rather than a holding pen with a randomised queue, so arriving early does matter? I've been logged in pretty much since I arrived at the office this morning with frequent refreshing to make sure it doesn't forget I'm there. Or maybe we just are all lucky, in which case, sorry.

Theatres need to spread out their booking to reduce my stress levels, am watching queue and clock as work meeting gets closer, it's going to be a close call

Or normalise the sneaky midnight release of the Chocolate Factory, so those who are super-aware or super-keen can get it sorted in the dead of night, then watch calmly as the rest of the world catches on when the sun comes up.

I could deal with that. My queue wait is getting longer, people either dithering or getting stuck on site.
