Well yes, but I doubt they'll take the successful Old Vic run as a sign that they can spend an incredible amount of money on opening two productions almost simultaneously. |

It wouldn't be at the same time. It opens in NYC in April.. and potentially london in the autumn. It opened in London to rave reviews- sold out- if (as predicted) it gets raves in NYC too, it will reopen in London with even more great word of mouth. Not sure i want more Sonia Friedman musicals. Granted ive not seen Dreamgirls yet, but Legally Blonde and Funny Girl weren't exactly the most lavish productions, successful though they were. We definately need a new Cameron Mackintosh |

Agree Funny Girl was a skimpy production but glad I got to see it. Annie doesn't interest me at all. I'll be ill if I ever hear Tomorrow song again.

But I doubt they'll open 2 productions around the same time of a show that hasn't really proven anything yet. its going to need raves in nyc. its ticket prices are pretty high and the advertising is dire, and i believe ticket sales aren't off to a strong start. I really enjoyed it at the old vic and Andy Karl gave an amazing performance but it has a lot of competition in nyc this season |

Annie is the most depressing news and I sincerely hope it doesn't materialise.....who is going to want to see this?
The Piccadilly will need something that can go in around April, I'd imagine....Groundhog Day is opening on Broadway at that time and Strictly Ballroom opens in Toronto. Heard that Big isn't happening at the moment...maybe Danny Mac in Sleepless but the thought of that puts me into a coma

Actually, that's a point, You're Never Fully Dressed Without A Smile is a corker. And, as one who was in Annie a serious number of years ago, I seem to remember it's the only one with any half-decent harmonies...  |

I'd be really happy if it were this production of Annie! I saw it in Wimbledon (it was sold out the night I went) though it was Lesley Joseph as Hannigan and she was brilliant.
I distinctly remember the whole thing having a Matilda vibe, particularly in the design. I'm not sure it could be a long-runner but with Charlie out of the West End it would do really well for a limited run.
And then PLEASE put Waitress in afterward. Just put Waitress anywhere.
