With regards to certain actors sticking to the same jokes etc. Surely this isn’t their fault? Bigger stars may have some level of input/suggestions but they don’t write the script or direct the show.

It's not uncommon for the billed stars to write their own material for their "solo" section. In the DW programme it says "Extra material written by..." - I'm sure both Clary and Zerdin were credited there, but I can't be 100% sure so will check when I get home later! But yes, it's certainly not their fault in that Michael Harrison could say "come on Paul, you use this stuff every year, come up with something new" but doesn't, so he must be happy with it.

I can't speak of this year as I haven't seen it yet, but in the Cinderella programme, it does say "additional contributions by Zerdin, Clary and O'Grady" as well as 3 or 4 others.

TBH I imagine if you've seen the same pantos, the joke will be familiar but I assume since the pantos and stars go to different places, they can use the same jokes over and over for a period of time.

In the past, pantomime scripts would be part scripted and otherwise would just have the scene number, the name of the character (eg scene 3: Idle Jack ) and “business” written next to it. That’s where the performer had to include one of their own routines . I wonder how much of this happens these days . I’m sure it will still be the case for performers such as Gary Wilmot, and Paul Zerdin so I’m surprised he is doing the exact same routines.

Apologies if this had already been covered - does anyone know if Charlie Stemp is appearing until the end of the run or leaving early owing to Hello Dolly? Thanks.

Were you really there? Did you hear the laughter and applause? Did you see the full standing ovation? Did you see how Elaine Paige roared onto that stage and the laughs she got? Do I need to say anything about the genius of Clary, Wilmot, Zerdin and Havers? The freshness of Diversity and the impact of Stemp and Williams? The Wow factor of the effects and the great London theme It was a much tighter show than last year. Funnier and more spectacular Good to hear you'd go back on a deal though..... doubt that will happen I've already paid full price.... yes I was there...what an odd thing to ask 🤔 Yes I heard the laughter and applause. Did I not say that I enjoyed the show? Yes I did. Did I see the full standing ovation? No, because there wasn't one in the Upper Circle, and I couldn't see the lower levels. Elaine didn't work for me. I'm wholly aware that I may be in the minority. The beauty of having an opinion, eh. I said how much I enjoyed Clary and Havers. I said how talented Zerdin is, my criticism of him is the way that he uses the exact same material every year. No criticism of Stemp or Williams. No criticism of the set or physical production. I've long maintained that Qdos pantos are the best physical productions with the best sets and effects, and that was no different tonight. You thought this one was funnier and tighter than last year, I didn't. How about we accept each other's opinions as they're both equally valid? Cinderella had TodayTix deals in January last time. If I don't want to pay west end prices to watch it again, then it's entirely my prerogative to take the gamble and hold out for a potential deal. Hazarding a guess, but I think dannypc might be involved in the show...

This production (likely with some script tweaks) will be in Southampton next Christmas (different cast obviously)

This production (likely with some script tweaks) will be in Southampton next Christmas (different cast obviously) possibly, but I would more expect it to be the version that's in Manchester this year and was in Birmingham last year. The Palladium one is very London-themed (even more so than the average Dick) Also wouldn't be surprised if John Barrowman and The Krankies went with it to Southampton.

Any guesses on what next year will be at the Palladium if they continue on the pantomime tradition? My guess would be Aladdin or, if they want to do another female title, Sleeping Beauty.

I don’t it’d be Aladdin due to the musical being open and that Wimbledon are holding Aladdin next year which is fairly close to the Palladium. Maybe Snow White?

The mayflower confirmed this morning it's the London production. But as I say the script will no doubt be altered to make it less London centric. Scripts always change from one venue to another to a certain degree. I expect it's most just the physical production and elements of the script that will move. Same as cinderella is in Birmingham this year. For London next year I'd expect it to be Jack and the beanstalk or snow white. Both big selling titles with multiple roles to star cast. Outside chance of something like.Mother Goose if they want to be nostalgic

Snow White would be a solid choice, you could get some great casting for the Evil Queen, Snow White and the Magic Mirror. Peter Pan would be good as well.

I believe Wimbledon are doing Aladdin next year, but any word yet on Richmond and Bromley? If they announce before the Palladium does, that'll rule out a couple more!

On no planet could Elaine Paige be considered funny. Her insistence on laughing with her stupid gurgle at anything proves that. She is single handedly putting me off seeing this show

Myself and @ryan are seeing the show on Saturday night (him for Elaine mainly, me for Charlie and Emma mainly haha!). Last years was fabulous, so I can't wait to see this one!

If you're there too come say hello to us! Well obviously I'm going for Elaine but also to see how many variations of Dick jokes I can come up with during the course of one evening. If you are a parent taking your child to the show on Saturday and you get asked some very uncomfortable questions from your little ones as a result, I apologise in advance.* * I don't really. Mainly because I just simply don't care.

Must admit I'm mildly apprehensive. "Cinderella" had fairy castles surrounding the stage proscenium, "Jack and the Beanstalk" had a weaving Beanstalk design... shuddering to think what they may come up with for this one... Wonder no more http://instagram.com/p/BcfCLtdBuDV
