Ahh really wish I'd seen that My musical of the year has to be Flowers For Mrs Harris. Stunning and very very lovely cast, gorgeous score, gorgeous story and set, couldn't really fault it.

Another vote Groundhog Day. This is getting a bit repetitive isn't it lol.
I haven't seen a show in which all the elements worked in such perfect combination with each other since I first saw Billy Elliot.
Runner up would be Lazarus.

Groundhog Day. Made all the more glorious by the fact I wasn't expecting it to be SO glorious.
Honourable mention to Falsettos, for making me cry my face off and being the most perfect revival I could have asked for.

Oh lord....what a tough one.
I have the feeling that Dreamgirls would have topped the list had i seen it this year like i originally planned but that is one for Jan now...
So i guess......Groundhog Day. Followed by School of Rock.

Best was Sunset Boulevard - got to see a performance I wish I'd seen 20 years ago and have always hoped to. Exactly this! In any other year I'd probably be choosing one of the other shows people are mentioning (Titanic, Ragtime, Heights, Groundhog etc), but Sunset is my ultimate musical and I always kicked myself for missing the chance to see Glenn Close the first time round. So Sunset has to be my musical of 2016, if not my decade!

Side Show for me.
I enjoyed Groundhog Day and Titanic but although I thought they were good they didn't touch me in the same way.

Show Boat was really something special. I'm so glad they brought it in.
Titanic and Sunset both up there!

Flowers for Mrs Harris, hands down. I'm praying for Daniel Evans to bring it to Chichester then, perhaps, the West End.
Honourable mentions to Side Show, Show Boat, Sunset,Titanic and Toxic Avenger.
Seeing all the positive comments, I'm sad I missed Groundhog Day even more now!

Another vote for Flowers for Mrs Harris. A truly beautiful story. A VERY close second would be Jesus Christ Superstar at the Open Air. Can't wait to see it again next year.

Has to be Groundhog Day for me. I just loved everything about it. Hopefully we'll get a cast recording next year once it has opened on Broadway and fingers crossed for a return to the West End

I'm sure if I stop and think there will be many contenders, but the one that jumps instantly into my mind is TITANIC. I loved that show.

Sunset Boulevard. Parade
Polar opposites, SB was off the scale of fabulous, and Parade at the tiny Hope Mill affected me emotionally more than anything I can remember.

For me it's the three 'New to me' musicals I've seen:
Sunset The Go-Between Half a Sixpence
Honourable mention to Matilda from a front row seat as well when I got picked on by Mr Wormwood for enjoying reading!!!

I think I completely agree with you BurlyBear! Sunset was utterly thrilling - Glen Close's first entrance and With One Look was astonishing. Am loving Hope Mill in Manchester too. The singing was sensational in Parade. I'd also put a word in for Groundhog Day, Guys and Dolls (I know it opened in 2015 but I saw it several times in 2016 too) and Grey Gardens.
