Only the Charles Court at the Kings Head "Pinocchio". Saw their Mirror Mirror last year and it was perfectly pitched.

Tried to get my bruv to take his kids to a panto so I could go but he's got a new girlfriend so ain't interested. Stupid Brighton doesn't have a panto. This year we have Sunny Meh Afternoon

Their productions are always very top notch (best into the woods I've seen) but they are closing after BB to make flats or something Yes I really should go and will but I do like a celeb in my panto |

Went to Aladdin at Lyric Hammersmith this afternoon, now found myself at the first performance of Dick Whittington at the New Wimbledon! Will post thoughts on both later tonight.  |

Interval at Dick Whittington at Wimbledon, its great fun! The cast are fab, sets are great and the song choices are brilliant. Arlene is dancing and moving like she has just snorted 6 lines of coke but ok, at least she seems to be enjoying herself and she is good fun! An advert for Wicked is currently playing on the screen, must be off! |

Cinderella at the Palladium for me.
Will be my first time not seeing the panto at Wimbledon in like 10 years!!! We booked to see Palladium and thought hat if he cast for Wimbledon was to be good then we'd see both but doesn't appeal to us so just seeing Cinderella!!
It'll be interesting to see whether we pick the Palladium or Wimbledon next year!!

Palladium Cinderella for me - after years of provincial panto I couldn't resist O'Grady, Clary and *whispers* the delectable Mead! (Live, he has a voice like melted chocolate - I was in the audience when he won the Joseph thing.)

Haven't been to a panto in years. For QDOS' Jack and the Beanstalk do they still have the giant's dinner table set with the giant's head/ chest at the back of the stage?

For me this year, Cinderella at the Palladium, Dick Whittingtons at Wimbledon and Brum Hippodrome and Aladdin "Wok n Roll" at Theatr Clwyd.

Wimbledon's a cracker this year, and I suspect a "showmance" between Mr Whittington and Ms FitzWarren - and, trust me, they make a stunningly attractive couple. Ms FW is at least an 8.5 on the 'Mallardo Scale' for a start.
Thank you for that, TM - glad to know I represent some sort of standard. Now I'll have to tube it out to Wimbledon to see Ms FW for myself.

I saw Hackney's Sleeping Beauty last night and adored it - a great mix of Pop & MT songs, Sharon D Clarke being her usually incredible self and Alexia Khadime not annoying me for the first time ever! Gavin Spokes was great as Dame Nanny Nora too - i was worried about the lack of Clive Rowe originally, but if anything i preferred Gavin to Clive's past few dames... plus the audiences at hackney panto are always the most engaged audience i see all year round.
I'm seeing Cinderella at the Palladium next week, and it has a lot to live up to now!

Anyone have any recommendations for an American curious to experience panto for the first time? I'd like to see at least one while I'm studying here for the year, but I don't know where to begin.

The Palladium will be really expensive but there's lots of other trad pantos around at a reasonable price. Wilton's is a great venue if you've not been there before. Wimbledon and Richmond are both quite near tube and mainline stations and are old Victorian theatres. The Shaw and Hackney Empire will be cheap and have a lot of kids in the audience (not always the case in London). Really, unless there's a star that really appeals, just pick the nearest one to you and go along prepared to join in
