In that case, I better book a plane ticket...It's just won Best New Play! :-) Save your money - People Places and Things is far superior, see that instead. Is it? Take away the super showy performance and you're not left with much. I was rather bored by it but I was thoroughly engaged with 'Hangmen'. |

Save your money - People Places and Things is far superior, see that instead. For me, "Hangmen" is a better piece of writing, although as an acting showcase, "People, Places and Things" is terrific. But for those who want to see "Hangmen" without booking a flight, there are still encore screenings in cinemas, including one at the Vue Piccadilly on Tuesday 26th April. It's really close for me, with Hangmen just nicking it, PP&T has greater depth in terms of reflectiing on how we live but Hangmen, although it doesn't hit the heights of PP&T's best writing moments, is more consistent and paints its own (past) world with a keen satirical eye. Ask me on another day and I'll probably say the opposite....... |

This is an argument like do you prefer mild or strong cheddar?
Both plays are very different, but equally great I loved both.
I expect both to go to Broadway and tour, I hope Hangman comes back to the UK.

I think a Broadway transfer is likely. In that case, I better book a plane ticket...It's just won Best New Play! :-) David Morrissey talked about it today on Radio 6: they are still negotiating and trying to get as many of the cast as possible to do it, at Manhattan Theatre Club in New York, April 2017. |

Constellations played at the Friedman Theatre so a limited run at a not for profit theatre like MTC should be good. I imagine David Morrissey and Johnny Flynn are the mostly likely to transfer

I think some of the humour is a bit British, but that hasn't stopped other plays, like the History Boys from doing well

For a play that was so well-received and won the Olivier, it seems odd that it has gone quiet after a just a three-month West End run.
Knew I should have gone to the NT Live broadcast when I had the chance!

It would deserve them all. |

I just don't think American's would get the humour. I hope the wouldn't rewrite some of the English specific humour; it's what makes the play.
