After reading that interview, maybe she might be back this week. However, considering she's due back in 2 weeks Monday, I would be be surprised if she just waits until the 11th July. Maybe she might be back very soon though?

Only you could take an article that says Sheridan hopefully "might be back within a month" and interpret that as a sign she could be back this week!

Not that "month" could be June or it could be the month she was signed off for. If they are doing this, then maybe she'll be back soon. To be honest also, I'm really missing her on Twitter. Wish she was tweeting again!

Your positivity is admirable george. Yet i read that article and 3 bits jump out rather than the one youve picked up. Those being. 1) we hope 2) within the month 3) she wont be back till the doctor gives the all clear. Combining those 3 factors paints a different picture. Hope is a lot less than a guarantee and no matter how much they hope if the doctor doesnt give the all clear it isnt happening

As much as her twitter activity was a constant source of and it's probably better for Sheridan if she's kept off it.

I still can't get my head round why people don't think she'll be back after producers announced the date when she'll be back by?! They wouldn't do that otherwise and if she took more time off then they'd say she isn't returning. They aren't trying to muck you around, they know that people need to know what's going on.

They may have based that statement on doctors recommendation at the time which could have been based on how they thought her recovery was going. That doesnt guarantee things couldnt change after that statement was put out

Because if we equate this to 'normal' employment, when someone is off long term sick, and you're manageing that absence with them, the doctor never says "this person is not fit enough to return to work for the foreseeable future". It's always an ever moving target of sick note after sick note, estimated return date after return date. Until it becomes completely apparent to absolutely everyone that it's not going to happen and then you finally get the truth. I have no idea if that's the case here but I'm answering your question as to why some people may be sceptical.

I get all that, but if the doctors, Sheridan and the producers were still unsure, they wouldn't of said "she will return no later than the 11th July". They would've done what they did on the first time and said "2-4 weeks" or something similar. If you are putting a date on it, then you're going to be fairly sure that it is going to happen then.

How can anyone be fairly sure that someone suffering from stress and exhaustion is going to be sufficiently fit on a certain date? Doesn't make sense.
Unless it wasn't stress and exhaustion of course.

If at that point they had something to make them confident they could put a date on it then they would have done. Perhaps Sheridan having a good couple of weeks or something like that. That doesnt mean that the situation hasnt changed since then as can be the case with such illnesses. I guess we will know soon with week commencing 11th july almost upon us. Part of my sceptisism is down to this interview now being the most up to date information we have, previous most recent info was the producers statement. I think even with the previous date given the situation remains quite fluid

They would've done what they did on the first time and said "2-4 weeks" or something similar. If you are putting a date on it, then you're going to be fairly sure that it is going to happen then. Saying 2-4 weeks as they did the first time round also put a date on Sheridan's expected return. You proved this by knowing exactly when the first 4 weeks were up and Sheridan was due back and the press also cottoned onto the initial deadline expiring. All the producers did with their second announcement was extend the timeframe of Sheridan's absence. Using exactly the same terminology as the first time round wouldn't have done much for the credibility of their assurances that she was coming back (inviting responses such as we've heard all this before etc) but the slight change in terminology still amounts to them saying the same thing. Whether I write this evening that she's due back in 2-3 weeks or in w/c 11th July, there's no difference. I appreciate how keen you are for Sheridan to be back when you visit the Savoy but I think you're reading too much into the official statements and looking for a degree of certainty in the announcements which simply isn't there.

None of you understand what I'm trying to say! I don't think anybody understands what I mean either! I can't be bothered to explain myself further and again because nobody seems to get what I'm saying

Well whatever happens, let hope she's in a better place now after this break.. Whether she returns or not. I didn't love her in this role, but there's no denying she is a special talent.

But before this turns into the George22 thread again let's concentrate out attention on the show and it's performers rather than how everyone reacts to you.

And the 'she's definitely coming back' narrative might be what the cast and producers believe and hope, but if they're not sure or if she doesn't return to the show then they have a lot of backtracking to do, no?

I think everyone gets what youre saying, and they are just explaining why you cant take that as a given. Nothing thats been said by the producers is concrete, its all carefully worded. The world is full of PR spin these days and they havent said she is definately coming back.
Plus, and i dont know the legal implications for producers and ticket buyers, but it might be easier to just keep extending her absence and give people the hope she will be back instead of just out right saying she has left the show.

Spot on. I get exactly what youve said every single time youve said it george. Now youre having a bit of a flounce because people dont agree with your reading of the situation. Some time between the 11th and 16th july we will know whats going on.
In the meantime, I noticed some were there yesterday and enjoyed the show. Im there on friday and cant wait.

Are we assuming that Natasha will be attached to it? Especially as they've already got press sound bites they could sell it with. Or will it need another 'Name' to sell it with?

I wouldn't be surprised if Natasha did the tour, I'm sure she'll be high up on the producer's list. She might want to do different shows? Hayley Tammadon might do it? Is Darius definitely doing the tour?
