maybe having Chris play with Sheridan spices things up so for people seeing the show again, they don't just see the same leads as london? Unlikely. The number of people who see a show multiple times is so small it doesn't figure in anyone's plans. If producers are thinking about ways to increase audiences they'll be thinking in terms of several rows per day, not a handful of seats per month.

Apologies, didn't realise it was sold out online. There doesn't appear to be any agency allocation, but I would give the ATG's Contact Centre a call on 0844 871 3019 in case they've got any holds or returns they can sell you. No worries. Yeah tried that too and they said there'll be no returns for this production. Gutted cos wanted to surprise the OH for her 40th. Ah well, will have to think of something else, left it too late as usual. Cheers A member was selling tix on the noticeboard for the Thursday and Friday shows. Saw it at the savoy and loved it. Seeing in again in Bristol and Cardiff. Was tempted to book Llandudno so see Natasha but think my husband would disown me!

I have never known for a tour to have 2 alternating sets of 2 leads in this manner Not two sets but the lead in the Wonderland tour has a very similar schedule.

I wish The Palace would do a bit more with the outside of the building, which is ugly, and throw some coloured lights up. There are a few neons which they've knocked themselves out with and turned purple for FG but it's gagging to be full-on floodlit in purple. When Wicked came, with much hype, I was convinced they'd make it all green like they do at the AV. No such luck. I'm a bit of a one for a coloured light, I have to say

Without the moving belts the show must have had to be almost completely restaged. They were used a huge amount in the original production both for moving furniture on and off stage and in some choreography and movement.

But as another wise theatre goer told me, you buy a ticket to see a show, not the main actor/actress, so I'm sure whoever is performing in Sheridan's place will be amazing.

Well, what to say.....
ill keep it brief.
It looked fabulous on a big stage (I saw it at the Menier) but the Palace is big compared to the savoy. Totally filled it, nothing looked wrong or out of proportion. It actually looked much more beautiful than I remember. Yes, the conveyor belt is gone, sets are rolled in and off on platforms. It worked fine.
Several mess ups. Her gold gown in the restaurant scene, the cummerbund wasn't fastened at the back. It was attached at the front but the two side bits just hung down. She tried to fasten it at the back but failed and didn't attempt it again. It was a bit distracting. Some of her costumes seemed snug.
The pram didnt come in on cue. Member of ensemble eventually had to go off stage and bring it on. Seemed to take ages.
At the end where Ziegfeld visits her in her dressing room, he came on from the wrong entrance, she was looking stage left, after a delay he came on from stage right and actually broke character and said sorry, most likely involuntary. She kept in character and say "oh, it's ok"
The moustache thing happened, it actually went on the floor and because of the bulky costume she couldn't get down to pick it up. Was she doing that at the savoy? At the menier it was just not stuck on properly.
Ok, performances... ensemble all good. Gorgeous girls as before. Rat-a-tat looked fab with the green satin ballet shoes and sparkly tights. The colours just popped more this time somehow. Joshua Lay was great as Eddie but not as good as Joel Montague.
Chris Peluso, lovely voice but he doesn't look right. Some of the costumes looked too big, especially the hats. Lacked any kind of commanding presence and he had the strangest gait. A kind of a long stridey pace like a string puppet. Not sure what that was about but it looked weird.
And Sheridan. Oh Sheridan Sheridan Sheridan. At the interval I was concerned. There was a great deal of mugging at the audience, way more than I remember. Maybe this was about reaching the back of the house but bloody Nora in the front stalls it looked way OTT and was continual throughout. As I came back from the bar I heard a bloke in the audience say "there's no pathos whatsoever" and he was right. It was totally one dimensional clown.
Act 2 and she totally pulled it back. Mr Pathos must have been relieved because she brought it in buckets. She didn't make me want to cry but she gave it her best shot. I think I found Nick too unbelievable to believe she could be that bothered. Wish it had been Darius.
So, looks wise, better than the Menier. Performances, not as good. I'd love to see Natasha and Darius' take on it.

Funny you mention Chris P's gait in your elegantly worded review - he did the exact same thing at the performance I saw of DEATH TAKES A HOLIDAY and I assumed it was meant to be spectral or otherworldly but perhaps he just doesn't know how to walk? He's VERY odd casting for Nicky -- for one thing, he doesn't begin to have the sheer size and stature to persuade anyone that Fanny would give this guy a second look.
Oh well.

Oh, forgot to mention. Sound dropped out from some of the mics continually throughout. I'm sure that will be sorted.
Orchestra sounded great, that overture was a treat. I'd forgotten that!
And the audience loved it. Full standing ovation.

Saw this in Manchester tonight.
This musical is really a star vehicle with a couple of decent song, this time it is a star vehicle for Sheridan Smith who never hit the heights she did in the fabulous Legally Blonde and really, but ultimately a story you can't emotionally connect with, you don't really care about Fanny Brice and she has been screwed over, the book is flat and pedestrian otherwise it would be fair to say it isn't a good musical.
In the end you just had a feeling that the audience were going to be on their feet to give a standing ovation and boy the audience didn't disappoint, this summed it up for me, and where the show failed, it is all about the star, not the piece. Good though it sent the audience away delirious and ready to get home to catch the latest episode of Benidorm on their Sky+ box.
