I think its great casting! To have Natasha and Darius reprising their roles, as well as Sheridan and Chris, it looks like whichever venue you go to, you will get to see great leading men and women! Indeed! It's almost worth booking to see it twice deliberately to watch two very different leads. I'm certainly tempted.

I've seen both Sheridan and Natasha, vastly prefer Sheridan. Because I love a last night I'm so tempted to get either a Plymouth (Darius/Natasha) or Manchester (Sheridan/Chris) ticket. Wonder when the final 2 week Manchester dates go on sale.

Nicely engineered so Darius and Sheridan don't have to be in the same room together! That struck me when I read the announcement as well! Shame, they were good together when I saw it at the Savoy. Undecided as to whether I'll see this - very tempted to see Sheridan again, heard good things about Natasha... but lots of venues are already nearly sold out! I'm not saying that back stage dramas were not the reason but what struck me was its a way of having a lead 'name' in each venue.

Stop being8 so sensible [b There were no back stage dramas between them. It's just a great way of having one big name at each venue. Remember people in the far reaches will never have heard of Natasha but will know Darius. I think it's great casting

I think it's great casting Theatre fans are hardly going to flock to the show because of Darius and his name, especially in Scotland as some publications seem to be suggesting. I'm Scottish and even I forgot Darius was even Scottish! People will either have heard of the show because of the film or will have heard of Natasha because of all the drama last year. Darius is probably the least known in this whole situation.

disagree. outside of here no one will know natasha and the whole sheridan fiasco is old news and forgotten by majority of the uk. its not to target theatre fans its to appeal to the casual regional theatregoer.
Darius is someone with mild name recognition who they can send out on the media/chat show circuit to promote the show

Well (and please forgive me for dragging this boring ole' subject up again), it was hinted at by some that the 'technical difficulties' didn't necessarily start at the Savoy, but it was most documented there - but either way yes you're right really. In which case I'm out!

Video of Sheridan singing 'Don't rain on my parade' at some club opening in Covent Garden last night. Hadn't heard about this before so must've not been much hype around it

The story regarding a celebrity becoming indisposed and her understudy getting better reviews received huge national attention. This is the kind of story the British public love! Natasha appeared on chat shows, was interviewed for newspapers and magazines so even people outside of here know Natasha and her story, even if they couldn't actually point her out in an empty bar. Honestly, I've had conversations with people at my work talking about "that understudy". Now that Natasha is leading the tour the producers will no doubt use her and her story as the lead promotion for the show. Darius hasn't been seen on TV or any other media platform for years and year. Other than a few flop musicals he isn't even a big name in theatre. Many people attending the theatre won't even remember what show he was on let alone any of his songs.

Saw that Dan Wooten wrote in his column the news that "he has been told" how Sheridan isn't performing at all venues so she isn't overloaded with work. This was announced months ago....its nothing secretive or breaking

I wouldn't describe Natasha as "leading the tour"... nor would I say anyone has the first clue who she is. The odd newspaper interview (average public doesn't read the stage!) and an appearance on this morning doesn't make her famous enough to be a box office draw / household name. Don't agree she had "better" reviews either, she had nice reviews (the same as Sheridan did) I genuinely don't believe that people across the nation were gossiping at their office water fountains about "that understudy" either!. 🙈🙈🙈.. (Perhaps I'm being naive here).. with all the misery in the world at the moment, can we just celebrate the fact that talent (Sheridan) is back on the scene and seemingly back on form. and also celebrate the fact that a talent was discovered (Natasha), and both are gracing our stages for people to enjoy.. I still believe that the real test for Natasha will be when she gets her own show, a panto and a copy of someone else's show hasn't really tested her yet.. hopefully she'll get a show after the tour that she can really make her own. Sheridan is a star already, with nothing to prove.
I also believe that out there in the public, people know who Darius is, and will be interested in seeeing him. Therefore I'd have done what the producers have done, but a relative name / known person in the venues where Sheridan isn't performing in the interests of selling tickets..
Good luck to all involved I say..

Sheridan is a star already, with nothing to prove. Really? if I were a theatre producer I'd be thinking twice about casting her in anything involving a long run. I'd be happy to cast her for tv or film though.

Michael Harrison, talking at the Brum Hipp season launch tonight, said how they thought there was absolutely no chance Sheridan would do the tour when they planned it. That she was keen to do so was seen as a huge bonus.

One thing to remember, the negative press didn't help when Sheridan had to take her break in order to get better mentally. Producers knows this happens from time to time. They also know that the press can be dicks who try to spin it into something it is not. The point is, she made it back on stage, completed the run to great response and has agreed to go on tour with the production throughout the first half of the year, depsite she could of easily pulled out, and understandably so, with the death of her father. She has proven herself as nothing but professional this past yead and also made a smart move to take a break in order to take care of herself and her mental health. I really don't think producers are going to think too long about hiring her again considering she sells tickets, garners critical acclaim and awards, is a known person around the UK and when she is on stage, she always brings 100% whenever she is capable of doing so. Her and her theatrical career will be fine.
