I think it's naive to think that people casting shows wont think twice about Sheridan in the future. I'm not saying she will never get stage work again, but let's not deny that Sheridan's involvement in this show has caused stress for everyone involved - including audiences and Sheridan herself of course. Will she still be an in demand actress? Yes. Would they choose her over someone with equal ability and fame? I doubt it. I also think she will stay away from the stage for a while anyway but then I never would have guessed she would join the tour, so what do I know? Bizarre argument. Any actor may vanish from a show if their nearest are struck down by potentially lethal condition, or if they are. And she's obviously appearing on stage soon if she's doing the tour..... Let's not pretend this was a simple pulling out of the show for a while. There was a ton of drama and difficulty that was caused as I detailed above. And yes she is doing the tour but George's post (and therefore my response) was about stage work after the tour.

What I do find good though is how Sheridan hasn't missed a single performance (excluding mondays) since her return and how the press about her has been quite good recently

Darius is definately not doing the tour, asked him today.
Do you know who I think would be absolutely perfect for that role though? Oliver Tompsett!!

Yes. Maybe she feels she has to.
She was sensational today. I was in awe. I hope Joel does the tour. He is a real stand out for me. The ensemble are also divine. This really is the most incredible show.

I have just checked the ATG website for the remaining performances and if anyone is in any doubt about Sheridan's "star power" they should check the availability for the remaining performances which are almost sold out apart from next Monday when Sheridan is not performing where there is LOADS of availability at all prices! So no problems for those who want to see the show but clearly most people want to see Sheridan Smith!
It is NOT about who can sing it "better" but who has that indefinable quality that makes them a "star" - Sheridan Smith just has "it" whatever "it" is! Other performers who may be able to sing "better" or dance "better" can only watch and weep!

After finally seeing Sheridan tonight, I have to say I definitley prefered her in the role...as said above there is just something that she has, even though Natasha has the better voice.
I do think its Sheridans comic timing and her remarkable ability to connect with the audience without actually making too obvious that shes breaking the 4th wall.
Was a decent crowd at the stage door also, Darius is just so charming at the stage door, Sheridan did seem quite reserved at the stage door compared to what Ive heard from others, but I suppose it was a 2 show day. She also seemed to be quite rushed, it was either the choice to get something personally signed, or a photo and a presigned flyer for the show. But I do understand that it helps to cut down her time at the stage door, and she was really lovely.

This really is the most incredible show. Its a big tour doing the biggest regional theatres - they need someone to pull punters in. Phantom and Les Mis had the show name, and still stripped the London casts of some of their best leads to hold the tour up.Funny Girl needs a name -and someone people associate with being a funny girl.

It just comes across as someone saying yes we know Natasha can sing better (and in my opinion act the role better) but because she's an "understudy" (now alternate!) and not as well known screw her.. Granted the general public doesn't give understudies a chance but I very much doubt Natasha will be weeping about not being Sheridan smith.

I would argue that if Natasha had had Sheridan's television career, she would be the one selling out shows. They both clearly have 'it' whatever 'it' may be. Sheridan's is obvious but not many understudies get a reception as good as Natasha has had either.

This really is the most incredible show. Joel is going into School of Rock so highly unlikely. I definitely agree that he was the standout for me too.

I have no doubt that Sheridan can still pull in the crowds due to her name and previous work however stating that because she can sell out performances she has "it" over "other performers" - obviously you are referring to Natasha is unkind and untrue, I can't remember the last time an "understudy" received such glowing reviews from critics and audiences and to suggest that she is weeping at Sheridan's "star power" is laughable. Stars fade, talent does not.

You can't criticise someone for being unkind and then do a little dig about stars fading at the end of your post.
Why can't we just accept that both are a joy to watch and are both utterly brilliant!

I wish ATG would come out and say if Sheridan is or isn't doing the matinees. Ive asked the local theatres who are taking the tour and no one knows what is happening!

They just send out the casting call for the tour. Looks like they are recasting most of the roles.
