An amazing return review from The Telegraph: Reviewing her return on July 9, Dominic Cavendish wrote in The Telegraph: “If she’s still tired and frayed, she showed not a jot of fatigue for two hours on Saturday night, a homecoming greeted by protracted applause from the audience at the start and a standing ovation at the end – a tsunami of affection which she gamely took in her stride, beaming, and jabbing a thumbs-up in thanks.” “No public speeches, but plenty of bouquets backstage no-doubt; all hail the comeback queen, back in the saddle with one confident bound,” he said. He went on to state that Smith “gave us a straight sets reminder why she, to quote her self-deprecating character at her most self-affirming, is ‘the greatest star by far’”. so glad for her!

*sigh* Yes I'm sure you're as bored with me saying this as I am. Please stop making this thread about its contributors instead of the show. Thanks.

Well here's a gentle tip: avoid trying to sound like you have inside knowledge unless you have come to share it. When you do, and it is right, people will judge that you do have good sources. Otherwise you risk sounding like you are bragging.
Clearly, quite a few of us on the board hear the same industry gossip- most judge it best to say nothing until there is something to say.
I leave it to you to decide whether to bear this in mind.

Whats going on here. I cant follow this thread now. Then read the last pages of this thread. And now im even more confused i offered no inside knowledge at all as I have none. Only because horton's post is directly below yours doesn't mean that he's talking about you - he isn't even quoting you. Most likely your post wasn't even there when he starting typing his. I am but having skipped to the last post im not sure daniel was talking about contributors so im confused And in the same way BB's post isn't related to danieljohnson14's.

Fair enough but not everyone has the time to read every post that appears to be written live from the kindergarten in this thread right now. Just want it back on track like admin keep asking for. Why is that so difficult to comprehend

Maybe the moderators, could give some contributors some friendly advice as well as just addressing those people who are questioning some of their posts. There are two sides to this that both IMHO seem to have a equal say.

Recently it's just been will she, won't she return and now we have I know something you don't know. Bring back the old culture please.

That's good to read although I would like to think they would never have considered giving anything other than praise in the circumstances (i.e. say nothing if they weren't impressed). I must admit I wish I'd been at Sheridan's first night back just to experience the atmosphere in the Savoy! Don't think I will return now, particularly with the tour coming to Liverpool and Manchester next year, but will certainly buy the cast recording.

I think i will probably make a couple of returns to the savoy. One to see Natasha and the other Sheridan towards the end of the run

I honestly think Natasha is probably so grateful to the Funny Girl team as this has made her career now. People are paying to see her too!

I think it's Natasha who has made her own career with her incredible performances.

Saw tonight. Huge cheer when SS announced as playing FB. Super performance in a musical that isn't terribly substantial. SS shone much of the time, People a stand-out for me over the Act One finale. Clearly wowed by the standing ovation at the end. Came out after about an hour and spent a great deal of time signing and having pics. Apologetic after taking so long to come out. Really lovely performer and I'm so happy she's back on track. Glad I upgraded seats to nearer the front as this is a performance that benefits from seeing facial expressions, although £70 a tad steep, even if it was a reduction from the £125 they were originally. FG nowhere near the musical Gypsy is and IS beats SS for the performance but it's still a lovely tour de force and the switch from comedy to emotion is beautifully done. Sorry for the clipped sentences. Using phone!

Interesting that they're making an announcement before the performance that Sheridan is on. I wonder how long that'll be kept?

Interesting that they're making an announcement before the performance that Sheridan is on. I wonder how long that'll be kept? Either they send a mass email announcing she's back or they'll have to keep announcing it if they already informed the audiences in advance that she was on indefinite leave...
