Is there an under 25s offer for this show? Sure I saw one a while back but can’t find it now.

Thanks Alece10 for the reminder. There wasn’t much, but Jonny Bailey and Richard Fleeshman on Radio 2 - 2hr 27m to 2hr 34m, 2hr 38m to 2hr 49m (Christmas TV Quiz which shows how young they are!) Sign in here - www.bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/m0001qnkJonny has a delightful speaking voice!

Repeat viewing last night, had understudy Larry (whose name escapes me, I want to say Gary but that seems too obvious).
I was with a slight sondheim hater, he ended up adoring the show.
Since I last saw it the show has become so much slicker, punchier. Patti is on fire, the way she delivers that ending scenes, perfection a real materclass.
I’m also still in awe of Rosaline, I find her captivating to watch and I really like her voice. I like that the show is this emotional rollercoaster for her character yet it’s always just bubbling below the surface. I think it feels really truthful

Although the only reason I went again was to see Richard! Can there be an award for best briefs on stage?

I mean. Well seriously. The only thing that would make this tweet even more fabulous would be if I was reading it in bed with dear Jonny B and The Fleesh.

Wondering if theatremadness got to see this yet - and their thoughts - given they started this thread with some excitement, but they don't seem to have logged on in quite a while... Hope all is ok. Hello!! I had plans to see this but unfortunately I won’t be able to. I’ve been out of the country for work since July and won’t be back until Summer next year, which also explains my absence here. Everything is indeed ok! 😊

It’s a lifelong dedication and often an obsession – an obsession you ultimately lose in most cases as you age. The obsession with ‘having a gorgeous body’ is not good for long-term mental well-being IMO whether you are male or female. At some point, the genetics will take control again.

On the subject of Fleeshman, he was the perfect himbo, wasn’t he?

I'm full on rooting for Fleeshman to get an Olivier nomination for his performance. He is just fabulous in the show. Not only does he look amazing, he sounds great and is both hilarious and touching at the same time. Whilst Jonathan will obviously win at this point, seeing Fleeshman alongside him with a nom is maybe the thing I want to see most of all come nomination announcement.

Not only does he look amazing, he sounds great and is both hilarious and touching at the same time. Agree 100%. I think he brings more nuance to his role than Jonathan who I found to be a bit overwrought and lacking in subtlety, precariously teetering on the very thin line between character and caricature. I know I am in the minority here in regards to JB.

I know I am in the minority here in regards to JB. That’s exactly what I thought, and I know I’ll get shot down in flames on here for saying so, but I thought JB’s performance was uncomfortably frantic and came across as a “gay” caricature, not very subtle at all. I was surprised tbh, with him definitely being such a good actor and given the general delight in this performance on this site. Maybe I was just too close to the stage , in the 3rd row of the stalls, but I just found it uncomfortable and a bit cliched at times . The actual staging of his big number was the funny aspect (for me) with that wonderful lady vicar, and the company popping out of the set , not his rather over the top performance . RF was (to my mind) the big surprise , a great singer, excellent comic timing and like JB , a good actor.

I definitely think RF was deserving of the same billing as Mel and Jonny.

You can’t blame JB for his portrayal...he was directed as such by ME and he’s definitely Rosalie’s Sanford Blatch. It’s a bit of comic relief as all of the characters are somewhat stereotypical. Because they are just short vignettes, the audience has to know these characters at first glance. “Amy” is played in a crazy way too when I’ve seen it with Alice Ripley, Katie Finneran, etc so Jamie is played in somewhat the same way...

Happy New Year all and wondering -- does anyone have any good discount codes for this for Jan or Feb? There was one I saw online that expires yesterday (typical) but there must be others doing the rounds? Many thanks ! :-)

I am not trying to blame anyone, but I’ve seen it with other folks too and each offered a more modulated performance, particularly outside of the big number. It does not require playing Stanford Blatch to provide comic relief.

Many thanks ! :-) I don't think it discounts as such (apart from Rush tickets), but it does use dynamic pricing if you keep checking on the main website. It's just a question of timing when you buy to get the best deal.

I saw the show a couple of times and I have to say JB has become quite broad and ott, which is a shame since his performance during the first preview was one of the more hysterical and brilliant I've ever seen in a musical.
