I've heard some stories of a few theatre fans cheering when Patti says "I'd like to propose a toast", in the know of what is to come next. Can't say I cheered but I certainly slapped the sh*t out of daniel 's leg and whispered "it's time!!" 😂😂 Full-blown applause and whooping from some guy near my seat when I saw it, he sounded like Damian from Mean Girls which made it funnier/less annoying than it might have been. ... was it @ryan?? I've heard the rumours of him at this show. 😂😂

It’s press night on Wednesday. Do you think they’ll go for this like we all have?

It’s press night on Wednesday. Do you think they’ll go for this like we all have? Oh absolutely. I suspect the reviews will be all about Jonathan in truth, as well as the rest of the Supporting cast and the design team and what Marianne has done with it. The only cast member who will face a challenge will be Rosalie, because I can see the arguement of the Supporting cast being so good she fades into the background, which shouldn't happen.

I agree. I think they’ll pee their pants for it. And if it doesn’t transfer to Broadway with this cast it will be a damned shame.

TOO RIGHT. Grab them before they go up again... (as the actress said to the archbishop). I had to trawl, but got some for December!! I love this board.
Likewise, and thanks for the suggestion - they're slightly higher up than I usually prefer, but lower than the front of the upper circle, and I'm not going to argue with two seats for less than one in the rear stalls would have cost, particularly when they're that close to the stage.
There aren't many left. If you want them, don't hang around.

So the £19.50 ones are a deal then? TOO RIGHT. Grab them before they go up again... (as the actress said to the archbishop).

Oh the critics will sh*t kittens over it. It's *such* a critic show, the kind of thing one is supposed to love 'cos it's Simon Sondwho innit.
Plus they'll love the fact that when they want to talk about the direction of the piece they can just lift chunks out of their review for 'Angels in America' and change it to 'Company', saving them a bit of time and effort. Win win.
The man from the Daily Hate Mail might not like it though. 'Cos of the gayers.

It’s press night on Wednesday. Do you think they’ll go for this like we all have? Occasionally, sometimes a production comes along worthy of all the praise and more. This is such a production. Though I would quite like them all to question why it’s the revivals that get all the glory as of late (this, Gypsy, Sunset, Cats etc). More noise needs to be made about the quality and lack of new work, but that’s yet another thread.

Jane Garvey from Woman's Hour had never heard of Company before she saw it at the weekend, and thought it would be creepy with a man in the lead, when she interviewed Marianne Elliot this morning. So although it's a classic, Company isn't done often enough for it to be widely known, and this production is sufficiently different to get a lot of attention. The critics will love it.

And also not forgetting that the show itself is an event and feels like one. As soon as it was announced it has felt like the show of the year and it totally feels like it and deservedly so. There is usually one or two musicals a year that feels like an event from the get go. Follies was that last year, this is the one this year. Critics will be bowled over.

Critics will be bowled over. And if they aren't, Patti will belt them into submission.

Critics will be bowled over. And if they aren't, Patti will belt them into submission. She’ll accuse them of writing reviews on their phones during the show and accuse them of not watching it

I want to get tickets for this (because of Mellie) but I only have three options, one of which is the last matinee. Do you think there’ll be much mucking up going on?

I don't think so, it's a prestige comedy, its already hilarious, they don't need to add anything else to it and I think the cast know it's there already. Book it now. Like now. Right now. Why are you still reading this, book!!

Well I was there tonight and not much to add although I think this is a 5 star production of a 3 star play. I haven't seen Company before, but I've heard some of the songs before. I thought there were some stellar performances tonight, and it's amazingly efficient in terms of staging, lighting and performance. I loved it and my Sondheim-phobe husband liked it very much, but the character of Bobbie is thinly written and largely a reflection for the other characters.
Interestingly there were some phone noises after the Ladies performance and I wondered whether someone was trying to provoke a Lupone rant. There was no response from the stage and I hope that this is not a forthcoming trend...

I know it's easy to make fun and an easy jab at Patti but to ruin it for the audience members, cast and Patti isn't fair at all. Especially considering that is one of the best moments of the whole production!

Colluding together "You leave your phone on, You ring it and I'll record the reaction for all the likes on youtube". f*** people.

When I went last week there was a phone that went off twice - just a ting each time as if a message had been received - just as Ladies was starting. You could feel the clenching of teeth and shoulders from people around and the usher dashed up to the rear circle looking very very panicked. Hopefully just forgot to silence it post interval. As you say I hope this isn't someone looking for youtube fame by causing a commotion.

I mean not to bring it back round to the fame debate we've just sectioned off, but the average audience, even the average musical theatre fan won't all know that story, so I think the likelyhood in general isn't large.
Side note, don't ask me how I know, but the sound mixer is currently using 'Dominick the Donkey' for keyboard checks. You are welcome for that melodic imagery. (and the thought of Patti overhearing and deciding to have a sing-along).
If you don't know Dominick the Donkey youtube that immediately.

Around the beginning of November, Dominick the Donkey makes it's way onto my "IT'S NEARLY CHRISTMAS!!" driving-to-work Spotify playlist. I LOVE IT.
