I'm going to book right away. I love Company so I'm hoping it'll be worth a repeat trip. If so, I'll look into different ticketing options for my return trip. And if it sucks, then I'll have booked it so long ago that I won't have any real memory of having had the money that I'm spending on my ticket and I won't be so cross about having paid to see it.  |

I should proably just take myself straight to the 'unpopular opinons' thread but...my heart sank when I read this. Firstly because I had high hopes at the re-writing, contemporary production (I know not shared by all) and bringing back Patti in that just doesn't feel...right. However on that I trust Elliot's judgement. But...and here comes the unpopular bit....I'm just not much of a fan of La LuPone. Funny enough she falls into the same category as Nathan Lane for me- someone Broadway fawns over but I don't quite 'get'. Sigh. I'll have to see it, because I have high hopes for Rosalie, and Elliot but sigh...  |

They went on sale at delfon't site a few minutes early. Got some £49.50 at the front of the top level for early October. Everything below that in the £79-99 region so a bit pricey for me. But hopefully decent-ish views.

This is the one I’ve been waiting for.
Is it me or….more shows booking a year before they open? In order to get my wife Harry Potter tickets I had to pay out 18 months in advance! This month ROH are selling tickets for The Ring next September and you have to buy all 4 shows. Now this. Its been the norm with popular concerts for years but it seems to have drifted into the Theatre. There’s plenty of things I’d like to do with my money rather than put it in a producers account a year an advance. And, without being too goulish, given the average age of a theatre goer, a significant no of seats may never be occupied! Sooner or later a show will fail to open and the chance of getting the money back must be Questionable.
Not a welcome development.
RE which CD. There was a recent thread on best recordings and several people recoomneded the Raul Esparza version. The score is re- orchestrated away from the disco 70’s to a more chamber feel and his performance is just stunning.
Just checked and will watch this tonight.

I booked. £25 in the Upper C. I mean, I shouldn't have, I should have waited till I ACTUALLY have money next week, but I've got first Saturday middle of the row. I now have a year to do my research and get sorted on Company - Being Alive is one of my favourite ever MT songs, but I know nothing of the show. Exciting times ahead. (and just one more time I have to scream....)

But shows have gone on sale and failed to open before now, I'm sure the major theatres at least are covered by insurance for refunding purposes. I know Richard Bean's Count of Monte Cristo managed to sell some tickets at the National before they realised they weren't going to be able to do it after all. |

But hopefully decent-ish views. There are a few slips seats at the front of the dress circle for £25 - restricted view, but not terrible (I've sat there before). Interested to see how (if) it works - emphatically despite rather than because of Ms. LuPone - and I don't deal well with heights in the upper circle. I certainly wasn't going to pay £80 for it. |

No preview pricing or anything. Disappointing, as both Grandage & Branagh's seasons had £10 tickets or at least reasonably priced seating for every performance. Not £12.50 seats in the slips.
I'll wait. I don't expect it to be a massive sell-out, especially not a year in advance!

I remember when Half A Sixpence first went on sale tickets were sky high expensive, but they soon dropped once the show opened and wasn't full  Yes, but how many people with a vague interest in it had taken one look at the first prices, got scared off and never looked again? Unless you KNOW you have a hit on your hands (i.e. Harry Potter or a super popular star) I'd say, start with reasonable prices to sell out the first weeks and get a good buzz going, then hike prices. |

So I've ordered the Donmar version but if I like it will also try the actor-muso one. The Broadway revival one must be very rare as was 130 quid on Amazon.
Will deffo see this, mainly for La LuPone. Not seen her on a London stage since Sunset (feel sure she'll be having dinner with her best mate ALW while she's over here).
Anyway with DMT's excellent dynamic pricing this is definitely one to book at the time and not in advance IMHO.

What would people recommend as the best recording for this (for someone who doesn't know the score)? Was thinking if being patriotic and going for the 1996 London one.... Very good call. It's misses out Tick Tock. Which is often cut and is a bit of a curates egg but I love a musical ballet section!!! |

I"m so thick, I just assumed it was gender-swapping, I never even thought of Bobbi being gay or bi. It certainly makes it interesting I suppose.

Jane McDonald must have an appalling memory if she can't remember being the Nurse in the misbegotten adaptation of Romeo & Juliette for the West End.
On recordings, the OBC is the one to get but the keyboard sounds, the orchestrations scream out 1970, making it very much of its time. The Broadway revival 1995 is pretty tinny and dry in comparison, trailing way behind the others. The Donmar revival is better but the band lack oomph but the Esparza actor/musician one is a good second CD whilst being a very different sound to the original. The concert, as above, has no audio recording, just the bluray/DVD. There's also a Brazilian and a German cast on CD.

I had to book and got central row f in the stalls (one row before premium kicks in). By the look of it Row A, B & C in the stalls could be day seats or they are being removed as there was no availability for these seats on any date I looked at.
I'm really intrigued as to which characters will be gender swapped, I've been thinking about it all morning, will they make Bobbie Bi, or will someone is waiting be all about the guys and if so, how will that even work without a full rewrite of that particular song??
