although one could assert that it is never too early to start teaching the young on the potential lifetime of relationship angst they may experience lol Haha yes although -by and large- the young do think they know it all.... Also the broadcasters are likely to run out of shows targeting such a wide demographic at some point soon. At face value JCS has little appeal to the <30's but that worked successfully. |

Luckily secured two rush tickets in row D of the dress circle last Weds eve. I enjoyed the show much more from this vantage point than row R of the stalls where I sat last time during previews. Being much closer to the stage meant we noticed facial expressions much more, which hugely increased my enjoyment of the spoken scenes. Rosalie Craig as Bobbie came across as bland from the back of the stalls, but now I realise that was just because I was too far away to appreciate her fine acting skills- she really was excellent and brought a compassion and humanity to Bobbie that make you really care for the character- no mean feat given Bobbie spends most of the time observing rather than engaging in the action. My partner loved the show from start to finish and commented that it was one of the best shows he's ever seen, which was lovely to hear given he doesn't click with Sondheim at all and won't let me play any at home! Hoping another fine Sondheim production will come along soon that he will enjoy as much as Company. I might try Follies but I fear he won't enjoy that as much as its harder to relate to the characters.

I just wrote a really long review of yesterday’s matinee on my phone and then accidentally got rid of the whole thing so I’m currently trying not to tear all my hair out.
Basically though I loved it and I’ll rewrite my full review tomorrow!

Quite a crazy time at the stage door tonight with many random celebs making an appearance.
I don't usually do stage door but was lucky I chose to tonight as I met the LOVELY Amanda Abbington!
Oh and the show was amazing as ever too!

Oh and the show was amazing as ever too! I was in tonight and loved it to. Can't fault it, excellent direction and set and cast and the sound was the best I've heard on a West End musical in a long long time. I felt very much the lovey tonight. Bumped into a director I've worked with a few times. While chatting, he spots another old friend introduced to me as "John John". John John then introduced us to his guest, Amanda... I was very much thrown at being introduced to Amanda Abbington and must have looked a right picture haha. |

Wish they'd hurry up and start discounting this - it's really not selling that well at full price. There's obviously demand for the cheaper tickets as can be seen with the rush situ on TT. People want to see it but don't want the £50-125 levy. Exactly. At those prices, it's too risky for people who just want to take a punt on it, and aren't die hard fans of the piece (or LuPone) This show does smack of "elite pricing" to me. Aimed at the well heeled theatre-goer... |

I mean, guys, this is the best show of the year isn't it. It's not a question, it's not an umming or ahhing situation, it is just fact. It's just sensational, and Jonathan Bailey is giving truly one of the great performances of the year. |

You still have months left in this run I will try again, it's just a shame for my friend because she won't be back in London any time soon. But we weren't willing to pay the crazy prices so we saw Dreamgirls instead! |

I saw this the other night. I had no expectations and went in not knowing what the show was about or what it would be like. This is such an unpopular opinion, but I didn’t enjoy it as much as I thought. The show itself is directed amazingly and the set and lighting design is incredible, I loved how all e set pieces came in and out like that.
But I feel like there was no real story...what even was the story?! It kinda ended like on a flat, I didn’t see a resolution or anything. I didn’t think it that funny either, it was funny in places but people around me were belly cackling non-stop and I didn’t get why. It seemed like that fake laughter, very loud and made me feel uncomfortable in places.
The performances are amazing but all the performers, cannot fault that. Rosalie Craig has an amazing voice, so brilliant. Patti was good too as was Jonathan Bailey. All of them were great.
The direction was so clever, especially in that scene where Rosalie and Richard were in the bedroom...that is so clever?!
I only paid £27.50 as got a ticket on the day for the dress so glad I didn’t pay lots of money...it’s a good show and something different but I am surprised it got all those 5 star reviews. If someone asked me what show to see, this isn’t one I would recommend at all and not something I would return to, unlike I feel with some shows.
Performances, set, direction etc are amazing...I found the book, story and music not as good

Its a non-linear look at how a 35 year old might find themselves surrounded by pressure to settle down from all angles. Like life, there is no happy ending, but there is a resolution there in Being Alive as the central characters reflection (is this all happening in her head?). Company does divide people. Shame it didn't win you but atleast you good a ticket at a decent price |

Saw it for the second time yesterday matinee. Loved it even more than the first time which was during previous. Rosalie Craig iwas absolutely sensational and so was Patti Lupone.
The harmonies in You Could Drive A Person Crazy were wonderful and it's really one of the highlights of the night together with Being Alive and Ladies Who Lunch.
Not so sure about Not Getting Married Today though. Jonathan Bailey is a very talented and energetic performer, his Jamie is cute and charming but I couldn't understand a word he sang in this number, his enunciation was really poor and he mumbled a bit. The first time I blamed it on the sound being a preview, but this time I realised it's just him as there was not problem understanding any other performer. A pity as he is perfect for the part, really hope he improves.
Apart from this minor hitch, this was a wonderful performance. Look forward to seeing again soon.

Honestly it's worth the money for Richard's body alone! True re the laughs - lots of amusing sections but not laugh out loud (for me). Call me cynical but I felt there was the usual audience element of "we've spent the money, we've heard it's the hit of the season, so we MUST laugh loudly to show how much we get it and what good fans we are." That said, it wasn't at all intrusive in fairness, and was nothing compared to the Wicked and Hamilton fan girl-ing. God the latter was so tedious. Loud hysterics before the lines had finished - seriously people, Hamilton is not a comedy! Anyway, I digress.... |

Saw this yesterday also, got lucky with the TodayTix lottery. Well - this is absolutely top quality, high-class, well executed, premium grade musical theatre isn’t it.
Stellar performances, all roles are given their chance to shine at least once and they certainly deliver - Jonny Bailey was a stand out for me personally but also loved Patti, Rosalie and, to my surprise, Mel was delightful too.
The Direction was thoughtful and the set design was modern and clever.
I’d go out on a limb and say this is technically the best musical on the West End currently, in a sense that there are no dud performances, no tired bits of direction or bad habits that can develop over a long run (i.e Wicked or Les Mis).
That being said, I don’t have the itch to go back time and time again to shows that are arguably less technically solid but provide a better, somewhat more visceral experience such as Jamie, Wicked, 42nd St. However, I cannot deny the fact that it was all kinds of wonderful and I wish it a great run with all the awards it truly deserves.

I saw this weeks ago now (an early preview) and it has completely stayed with me. I think it might be the best musical to hit town since Glenn dug out the turban.
Despite being written decades ago, there is still a lot of truth in what happens when you suddenly find yourself uncommitted and in your 30s - you go from having this all encompassing friendship group in your 20s to a circle of friends you have to make time for because everyone has coupled off and gone on to forge their own lives: you don’t just hang out, you have to actually have to schedule a time to catch up.
So on the one hand Bobbie is lucky so many people still make an effort for her birthday - if it were actually written today, I’m sure there’d be mention of unseen friends these characters only keep up to date with via the likes of Facebook and Instagram, and probably haven’t actually spoken to properly for a few years.
This is an odd comparison to make, but this is exactly why the creators of Friends say they’ll never revive the show - life is different in your 30s, and no one wants to see Joey sleeping around and unmarried in his 30s. I believe one of the creators said it would be ‘sad’ to see Joey like that, but actually, thats exactly what Company tries to explore (Pheobe is totally Joanne - so long Mike - and you just know Ross and Rachel are Peter and Susan with the whole divorce/let’s stay together thing... and struggling with a diet and drink? Monica and Chandler are totally Sarah and Harry).
