I came across some songs from this the other day on youtube. It just reminded me how beatiful ALW's score actually is. Maria Friedman was great as Marian. I am really surprised that there has not been a revival of this by now. It closed over 10 years ago in the West End and it's not even toured. Time for a revival I'd say!

Totally agree. This was the first show my partner and I ever saw together in the west end and for that reason holds a special connection. I was obsessed with 'All For Laura' for months afterwards.
Will be front of the queue when it is revived.

I loved this. I know many others didn't, but I loved the mood, the projections and the songs. Happy memories. A revival would be great!

Loved it too. Was it one of the first shows to use projections?
Michael Ball had taken over from Michael Crawford when I saw it.

Saw this and was blown away by Maria Friedman and the rest of the cast apart from sadly Michael Crawford who I felt was coasting. It's not my favourite ALW score although it does have its moments, but it was just so well sung.

I've never seen it but would love to. It's remarkable how some of its recitatives are borderline identical to bits in Love Never Dies.

I've never seen it but would love to. It's remarkable how some of its recitatives are borderline identical to bits in Love Never Dies. I have always thought that LND sounds more like The Woman in White than it does Phantom. No surprise, I suppose, given the dates of composition. |
