I like it - very In The Heights-esque. Though, I don't know why shows at Southwark always try to release songs from the show early. They never come off well. I remember Jenna Russell doing a song from Grey Gardens and the video was awful!

When I collected my ticket the guy at the box office explained that running time was an hour and a half (90 mins) straight through; no intermission or re-admission.

I thought this was absolutely brilliant! Go see this!! The amazing part was speaking with other members of the audience (including anthony40!! ) who were all moved by various parts. I loved the song with the nurse and babysitter- very moving. The waitress number was a crowd favourite! Another wonderful production at the Southwark!

I went to see this last night. Wasn't really sure what to expect but I thought it was great and with some really moving moments (maybe I was just tired after a long week).

So I caught today's matinee and not knowing much asbout this as a show, or the music and I LOVED it!
I am being conscious not to give away any spoilers but there are twelve actors on stage; six 'leads- three males and three females- and six ensemble; again three males and three females.
The ensemble pretty much stay on stage throughout is vary guises and the principles perform varying roles.
There is no actual narrative however what we are seeing are glimpses into the lives of various workers- there is the builder, the pizza delivery guy, the nanny, the airline stewardess, the truck driver, the receptionist, the school teacher who's been teaching for over 40 years, the ambitious 19 year old, the foreman who used to be a policeman, the waitress, the housewife, the prostitute, the executive, the call centre worker, the retiree, the cleaner, the woman who worked in the suitcase factory, the male nurse, the newspaper intern, the socialite.
In terms of choreography, some is stylised movement, some is very much like In The Heights
Despite not knowing any of the music, I actually found myself tapping my foot and walked out thinking id there was a CD, I'd buy it. There are one or two songs that are very much In The Heights- not surprising, considering the composer. There are also one or two shows topping numbers
For me, the two stand out performances came from Liam Tamme and Siobhan Harrison.
I cannot express how much I enjoyed this. Also got to briefly meet Japhun. Always good to meet another fellow board member

I also saw the Saturday matinee and found that I absolutely loved it. The cast were fantastic and I admit to crying more than once at some very emotional performances. We all thought we could relate to at least one of the characters and the small performance space made everything more real. Great performances and singing from everyone, couldn't choose one performance because I guess the way you relate to a character sways the emotion. I did look around the audience whilst Peter P was 'the retiree' and there was a lot of eye dabbing going on (as well as my own)! Dean Chisnall's Builder's song was my favourite vocal, but then as I say everyone was great. Would love to see this again before it closes.

Bill Kenwright played a track from the show yesterday afternoon whilst sitting in for EP. It was really rather good.

Very enjoyable evening, something different and refreshing (although I suppose it sort of follows the likes of Company and Cats as a plot-less show) directed and choreographed with style and slickness. I loved the set and costumes too.
This is the revised version so there are lots of differences between the 1978 CD and the version presented. The cast was great, although I did prefer the females to the males solo (but that is probably just my opinion, also the LMM Delivery song was delivered (pardon the pun!) with such quintessential LMM cockiness that it didn't set that actor on the best start for me..!)
There was a small but poignant speech at the end about recent events and they are doing bucket collections; halfway through the show I did think that in light of tragically losing people that performing and watching this show that tells the stories of the everyman/everywoman, it brought an extra sense of poignancy to it all (sorry if that doesn't quite make sense!)
If you have tickets you're in for a great show (and a nice short one too! Clocking out at about 9:10pm)

A celebration of employment, destiny, dreams and life! I have lots of nostalgia for this concept show as it was my final production we did at drama school - and it didn't disappoint. Wow, we just loved ever second of it, lots of changes and additions (including new material from Hamilton writer Lin Manuel Miranda) superb storytelling and incredible performances all round. A very different show however as someone pointed out from the original with many songs cut and correct there is no plot as such. But gosh as a piece it still works wonderfully and some some of the best choreography and staging I've seen in a long time for such a small space. Funny, sad, poignant, it brought a tear to my eye and a few tingles down the spine. Go and and see it!! OUTSTANDING HIT from Southwark again!! 9/10

I so enjoyed this show last night. I had never heard any of the songs before but what a score. Loved the music and the 90 mins flew by. Great staging and really liked the idea of the 6 established performers alongside 6 newcomers. If there was a CD of the show I would have bought it straight away. Really hope this does well and no reason why it shouldn't. Well done Southwark once again.

For anyone who has seen the show, did anyone else notice that all of the costumes worn (in their own way) were all dirty/soiled?
