Managed to catch David Beardsley as Ursus last night and thought that he was incredible (I believe it was his second performance in the role). Much prefer him to Sean Kingsley and would definitely recommend trying to catch him. He added a refreshing tenderness to the role and played a little more into the showman' side of Ursus from the novel

I found myself unsure of this show by the end of the first act, but by the end I was sold! The puppetry is excellent, particularly little Grinpayne’s head movements and Mojo the dog. I think it’s just what London needs, dark yet incredibly moving. I asked about a cast recording but I’m still none the wiser. The FOH staff said there’s been a huge amount of interest for one, so to remain hopeful. The theatre was 2/3 full, and I was sat in BB against the wall. Whilst I did miss a few parts of action at the back of the stage I found the seat to be great value. I imagined watching head on I would have received a better idea of the staging but I guess I have an excuse to return

I have a feeling that this may not extend beyond 14 April. It doesn't seem to have a large advance looking at random dates on the ATG website between now and then, and a further extension probably would have been announced by now. Anyone who has seen it seems to have really enjoyed it and it looks brilliant.

There's 5 songs on the Brisol Old Vic soundcloud, was the CD just those or more? The BOV recording was a live show recording, but missed out the first few songs. It's sort of like they forgot to press record at the start. I listened again to it recently and it niggles me that is isn't complete. I'd be pathetically pleased with even this Mr Wallacio! Hoping that a cast recording will be made, though I know nothing about the expense this would involve in comparison to possible sales. Though I loved it and it seems to be generally appreciated by those who have seen it, it's by no means a sell out.
Some nice bits on YouTube but I'd really like a recording of the London cast in full. Going back to see this again at the end of March with some friends who I think will enjoy it too.

Saw it this afternoon. The stalls were half empty, sadly (perhaps because of the weather). What a delightful show this is. Dark and grotesque, creepy at times, and yet surprisingly heartwarming - a sort of grim(m) fairytale for adults. Amazing puppetry and voices. And Julian Bleach. Julian Bleach. Julian Bleach.
Actually I enjoyed it more than "Hamilton". (Sorry, I'll get my coat.)

So yes, they did announce at least three more weeks of tickets today...I’d booked for 14 April thinking it’d be the last show, so hopefully I get to see it another time after that too!

I'm so glad this show has extended! Especially after the Olivier nomination snubs. Have now booked for the new closing night (having already booked for april 14th). Not quite sure what I'm going to do with my free time when this finally closes but I'm so glad that this show has been able to have a spectacular run

I noticed it had extended and went on the website to book but thought I would check with theatremonkey first. Now I'm not sure as there seems to be very little leg/arm/seat room with some obstacles in the way. Then I looked on tripadvisor and was surprised by many negative reviews, saying it was grotesque in places, starting with the opening scene (which I won't say on here).

Now I know the Trafalgar Studios isn't everybodies favourite venue, but grotesque is quite an egegious description. har har. I wouldn't say the show is grotesque, macabre maybe but not grotesque. It is a wonderful show though. So glad its extended!

The show is reasonably grotesque, but in a very good way.

very little leg/arm/seat room with some obstacles in the way. Go for row A, or the single seat in AA, they are safest.
Thank you for your advice.

This has been on my list to things to see for a while and Im so glad I managed to get to see this, what a wonderfully unique and bizarre new show. For all the critics banging on about needing to support new BRITISH musicals and then not recognizing this one in the major awards its so silly because this is the quality of new musicals that we should be expecting from ourselves if we want to compete with America.
Its so cohesive as a piece, knows exactly what it is and doesn't shy away from it but uses it as a strength. The cast (bar one for me) was amazing, the set and visuals for the show were great, I loved how it all extended into the audience.
I saw Caroline or Change the day before, and I would have appreciated a break in the music in that show because lots of it was repeated motifs that went on for just a little too long, making it sometimes seem repetitive, the sung though piece here never bored me and flowed effortlessly.
Hugely impressed, might try and catch it before it goes because I cant see it transferring again or coming back anytime soon, tragically.

Was toying with the idea of re-booking and having seen this thread bump back up I've booked for a repeat viewing during the last week of the run. Really hope this show gets a longer life at somewhere soon - it is such a great piece. Also, Code: 'SMILE' gets significat reduction in tickets on ATG

Also, Code: 'SMILE' gets significat reduction in tickets on ATG Didn't make any difference when I checked, tried it without and with and nothing changed, does it only work on certain days? I was looking at the Thursday matinees.

I just tried it for the matinee on the 26th and it's working for me! 🤔 By the way thank you for sharing that code, I was hoping to see this one more time and that helps!

I was looking at the Thursday matinees. Worked for me for Thursday Matinee. Check all seat bands, the most premium two bands don’t discount, but most seats in the house do.
