Do they still have that ridiculous ending with the two cast members awkwardly clambering over the stalls?
Somewhat ruined the moment when they have to get the entire row to stand up to let them get back to the stage... I don't think it's ridiculous at all. It puts a memorable end to the show as they head off to a new life being watched by everyone on stage. I did see it in Bristol though and there because the auditorium is small they could reach the back quite easily and no one would have to stand to let them back out. But I wouldn't be annoyed at having to stand because I'd have just been awed by the brilliant show. |

I think it would be less ridiculous if it wasn't so awkward. It's a steep auditorium, so when I saw it there was quite a bit of wobbliness, people having to lean out of the way as they climbed up, and a bit of nervous/awkward laughter from the people they were nearly treading on.
I think it's a nice idea, but it doesn't really work - it was all a bit 'haha woah, they're actually climbing over us'. And then it is a bit awkward that they have to push past a whole row to get back to the stage for the bows.

I agree, I found it awkward and unnecessary. Luckily I wasn't in the line of fire and I'm really glad! It's one thing being close to actors but another being climbed over, it totally broke the moment.

I thought it was a very beautiful moment when I saw it in Bristol and I was glad they kept it in for London, though I was sitting near enough to the front not to see how it played out once they'd gone past me.

Seeing this a week Thursday, looking forward to it based off what I've heard both on here and from a couple of friends that have seen it.
Have to question the prices though, is it really selling all that well when most of the tickets are £62.50 or £95? I'm counting my lucky stars that we're both under 25 therefore can benefit from the £25 tickets.

The front row is very very different to how it was for Apologia. The stage is very low and it's a fantastic view. I was AA7 but 8/9/10 would be equally good. |

Just steer clear of the extreme corners of the front rows, they looked incredibly squished and I'm not convinced people could see over the wall that goes around the front of the stage

Just saw this beautiful show. What an exquisite way to end my theatre trip.
Brilliant cast, excellent puppetry. Louis Maskell has such a beautiful voice, I'm in love! That act two opener, oh my God, he's incredible!
Since you have been discussing the ending recently, I have to say that I loved it.
Now, about my seat. I was in C12. Um, thank God the person on my left left at the interval, cause I was really uncomfortable during act one. Great view though.
P.S. in case the guy in C11 is reading this: you are really handsome.

Saw the matinee today (saw the show friday evening and loved it that much I decided to see it during my free afternoon). Loved the show even more the second time round and it was great to get a better look at the prosthetic as I was on the edge of row H on friday. I really hope they end up doing a cast recording - it's already sneaked it's way into my top 5 musicals! It's been a long time since I've been this excited about a musical, it's nice. I have to say that the seating plan on the ATG website is a little misleading. Book a pair of seats in row D that I thought were a few seats down from the platform above the entry, ended up being right next to it. {Spoiler - click to view}
Had I been one seat to my left I would have ended up being clambered over... not that I would have minded too much!

I was in D19 which was fabulous when the actors were on the raised stage next to the audience, and out of clambering range by a good 2 or 3 seats I'd say 😁

You win some and you lose some... I’m afraid I felt I’d lost with this one. Or perhaps it lost me... It was visually gorgeous but little else story-wise, and I found the music repetitive and hard on the ear. And I don’t often say this but I thought it was rather amateur on the acting front. Thanks to Mr Wallacio for flagging it up in the first place; I’m glad I saw it, and glad that so many seemed to have ‘got’ it. But it just wasn’t for me. |
