Fingers crossed. I'd love the opportunity to see it again without the group of loud, boorish, obnoxous a**eholes who were sitting to my right the day I saw it at the Old Vic. The house manager reseated me (and a couple of other people) at the interval, but by then the damage was done.
(The boorish behaviour during the first act included throwing a drink over someone who turned around to shush them. The house manager should have thrown these people out, and didn't, which tells me a great deal about the competence of the Old Vic's front-of-house team.)

I've always felt the Piccadilly is the place for this show. Hopefully we will see it happen. It’s not going to be the Piccadilly. Another (huge) Musical has that booked.

Plenty of mid-sized venues available in the fall (Savoy, Piccadilly, Shaftesbury). I really hope it happens. Technically the Savoy isn’t available in the ‘fall’. 9to5 is hopingto be there still.

Ohhh come on mrbarnaby you can’t just say something so cryptic like that without giving us a little hint as to what it could be 😉 x

That's disappointing, I'd rather have Groundhog Day than Waitress any time.

Moulin Rouge? 🙏🏻 EDIT: Baz hints in the same thread that My Fair Lady is transferring next year but not to the Palladium - maybe the Piccadilly?

Pretty Woman 😃
I only post the Savoy is free from the fall because the original 9 to 5 contract was for West End to autumn followed immediately by a tour

I agree that the Piccadilly Theatre is perfect for Groundhog Day, So why did ATG go with Strictly Ballroom instead, when they could have had Groundhog Day, which had a decent track record, with rave reviews? I would have thought that Groundhog would have taken any medium size house if offered?
Groundhog Day is a very good musical that is very poorly produced.

I'm guessing 'huge'is a clue, so my guess is Pretty Woman, seems a perfect fit and is the type of show I can see ATG putting in there and they announced London plans when they opened in nyc

I really hope Groundhog Day makes a return one day - still kick myself over missing it the first time.

I want Spongebob for the Piccadilly. But then I also dream of Charlie Stemp starring in it and obviously that won’t be happening anytime soon.

I really don't think we need My Fair Lady to transfer - it's a pretty production with a clever use of the Lincoln Center revolve, but it's nothing new or earth-shattering! If it did a limited run like The King and I then fine, but otherwise I'd prefer not to lose a theatre to it!

Every time there's a post in here I get excited, nice to know there's still a chance it'll make a return. I hope it does, I really loved it and the opportunity to see it again would be amazing (but of course it'd never quite be as it was, but if it's better I won't complain).

My Fair Lady I suspect has its eyes on the Dominion.

As was pointed out to me in one of the many predictions threads here, opening in the West End the same 'season' as Come From Away and Dear Evan Hansen, as GHD did on Broadway, would be an incredibly bold move. It's more likely that it would land 2020.

2020 is a safe bet, I think Tim Minchin will play some of the songs on his tour to build up support for the show. After the financial failure on Broadway, the producers are probably going to move slowly on this one to ensure no more money is lost.

My Fair Lady I suspect has its eyes on the Dominion. is there really the demand for a revival of this tho, especially in such a large theatre? the classics from the golden age seem to be slowly going out of favour. I think they'd need an a-list Higgins to sell it even for a limited run. Plus doesn't Cameron have the London rights, would he not want it in one of his? maybe after Poppins

As I mention in the 2019 wishes thread, Baz has confirmed that it won't be 2019 it returns here, but hopefully it could be at least an announcement for spring 2020 maybe. And I agree with the above that maybe Tim Minchin's tour will generate a bit of hype.
