How anyone can leave during Seeing You is crazy. It's only one of the best finales I've seen in a long time and tugged at my heart both times I saw it. The more I think of the show now that it simmered down the more I think how wonderful it was.
Having said that, when it does open on Broadway I really hope they make the very last bit with the sunrise a bit smoother and use better imagery.

Can't believe that's over...one of my all time favourite musicals I think and a truly outstanding performance from Andy Karl. 3 visits later I still can't work out how they do some of the jumps into bed in the suicide songs! Adorable moment at the end when they threw snow over Andy Karl and he made a snow angel!
Please come back soon!!!!!

In every example of the jumps he is somehow obscured (either by putting something on his head or going behind a shower curtain), where a double switches place with him and continues on whilst he moves to behind the bed set piece. This is done by having a large crowd around him and move off with him in the middle of it. He strips off whilst he moves. From behind the bed set piece he goes through a trapdoor which leads under the covers, where he emerges triumphantly and the double is quickly ushered off. It's very smoothly done.

In each case, an appropriately-clad ensemble member (who was cunningly concealed by the rest of the ensemble) took Phil's place at a brief moment of obstruction, misdirecting the audience into thinking we were still looking at Andy Karl while he was sneaking (also cunningly concealed by the ensemble) round the back of the bedroom set and through a concealed door into the bed. The oldest trick in the book, but EXTREMELY skillfully handled; even knowing what to look for, it was almost impossible to see the joins. Similarly done for the post-arrest wake-up, but in that case it was the scene being done largely in the dark with bright flashlights shone in our faces that distracted us rather than cunning use of ensemble members. |

The first one he did i genuinely didn't see it and it was a complete surprise and really did seem a great illusion but i must admit after that i was closely watching to then see if i could see him get into bed and i did. Nothing will take away that first time though which genuinely blew my tiny little mind at the time.

The set they currently used was manufactured in holland...Karl did all the tv work behind the set..it took about 5 hours... |

First time I saw it I really didn't appreciate the music, the clever lyrics - so much going on onstage. Second time I could pay attention to the music and loved it, last night, my fourth visit, I had the songs spinning through my head, and when I woke up this morning. I too am longing for a cast recording. Bah dah dah dah suck my b@lls I'm outta here ... I'm using this for my departure from the office from now on .. |

Correct me if I'm wrong, but since the Old Vic became a producing house again there has only been two musicals under Kevin Spacey's era, Kiss Me Kate (a co-prod with Chichester) and High Society, which neither had cast recordings. However seeing as Warchus' plan is for the Old Vic to commission a lot of new musicals, maybe cast recordings will be considered as well depending on their successes and futures. Tim Minchin seems confident on Twitter that a cast recording will happen for GhD but may take some time, but I agree I do hope it's of the London cast opposed to the Broadway cast, which could be likely seeing as they are the ORIGINAL cast who have probably worked with the creatives for some time in workshops. It happened with American Psycho, so hopefully it will with this (although I hope GhD will have a more successful Broadway run than AP!). But to be honest, I will probably still be buying it even if it is with a Broadway cast! |

To be honest it didn't really seem like there was A LOT of set apart from Phil's bedroom splitting into 5 parts and maybe the Groundhog bandstand. It looked like mostly furniture and props that relied the revolve (which I know is very complicated). Not saying it's like a Kenwright show, but it certainly wasn't Charlie at Drury Lane either. In that case I wonder if this would ever end up touring (maybe without or with a more simple revolve)? |

There was an audible gasp from the audience for that first one (followed by applause) - I loved that reaction, it's so rare to genuinely surprise a large part of the audience - and also didn't see the join until my second visit. |

First time I went, there was applause for the car chase and applause/gasps for *both* of the bed illusions if I remember correctly. From the back of the stalls my gosh it's a bloody good trick. 2nd time I'd worked out how they had done it and from Row H of the stalls it was practically impossible to see the joins. No applause for the car chase, but applause for 2nd bed illusion.

Every time I saw it there was applause on the second illusion - I figured that's when the penny drops that it is an illusion, and not a lapse in your own concentration making you lose track of Phil.

I didn't see where the take overs happened but i did see the moment he got into bed just before he woke up again. I just found my eyes concentrated there to see of i could see it and i did. I couldn't help it. I still loves the moments though.

Matthew Warchus is good at the stage illusion business - maybe the best. He worked some wonders in Ghost, remember, and he's applied what he learned there to even better effect in this one.

The harmonies were gorgeous. I also love the song Rita sings. I guess it's called Someday? I need to look into the program if there was a song list or not. I've also started using the word "dick-ish".

No song list (mentioned about 8 times on this thread with ever increasing annoyance). I thought I'd try and keep a list of the songs in order and then thought sod it. I'm here to watch the show not do someone else's job for them.
Anyone want to try and compile a list of songs in order?
