Sonia probably has money in it so put herself in good stead to lead the West End transfer - I still think this is going to end up in the Piccadilly, but bear in mind that not all SFP shows end up in ATG venues, just look at The Book of Mormon, Harry Potter and Travesties at the moment, so really it could theoretically go anywhere that's available at the right time!

I still think it will be Piccadilly or Phoenix, I can't decide which so I guess we will see. In my crazy head, I can picture it in the Piccadilly though.

That's the second time I've seen someone say it needs a 1000-1200 seat theatre. Why? I mean, I can see it needing a similarly sized stage to the Old Vic (and good luck with that, the Old Vic stage goes back for MILES), and I suppose financial considerations might mean it needs to be in a theatre that seats at least 1000, but 1000-1200 seems very peculiarly specific somehow.

I wouldn't day so about Kinky Boots, there have been no sights of any Circles closing, it still occasionally has the Full House sign out front, and anyone who has seen it on here in the past few months has said it is pretty much full, even during midweek matinees, like the one I went too. If any show will close, it will be Beautiful, which sadly doesn't appear like it will stick around much longer. Kinky will last into 2018 at least! |

I believe Beautiful has picked up recently - that said, May is one of the West End's traditionally quiet months, so let's see how it fares.

Had a pretty awful day so the first thing I did after walking through the door was buy the cast recording, and it's just wonderful. I'm almost tearing up with all the memories of the show flooding back to me!

OK I don't want to spam this thread, but I really love how the harmonies build up during Stuck and Nobody Cares, and the lyrics are just pure undiluted Minchin. So much to love in this show...

I was also thinking of Tam Mutu, if he really wants to challenge himself and get out of the world of big scores of ALW, Schoneberg ilk. This could be a good way for him to change pace and do something different. He sort of started doing it with City of Angels, but then went back to the Zhivago (and now Secret Garden)-types. Though I think he's doing a Cole Porter show in New York right now.

He also is hopeful that some of the Old Vic cast will return. As the tweeter says, it was a lot of hard work for just a 2 month run.
But I am also curious who these 4 other gents were that they workshopped for Phil...anyone got any idea?

I was just watching some interviews from The Old Vic's summer party last night and had a thought, seeing as it is also The Old Vic's 199th year. Is it possible that Groundhog Day could return there for a small run as part of the 200th celebration, before the West End transfer?

Just listened on Radio 2 to the charismatic Tim Minchin chatting to EP at the recent Tony awards. He is hoping for a return to London of Groundhog Day next year (nothing definite and he didn't specify West End or otherwise) - also he's still keen for matilda to become a film but that's reliant upon Sony who own the rights

Bill Murray has been to the Broadway show: NMEThis visit couldn't have come at a better time to drum up a bit of publicity after the grosses fell 9% this week. It's so sad to see the grosses for the Broadway production slipping further and further down every week - I'd be very surprised if it had much longer left. I'm feeling less hopeful by the day that it will make its way back to London. |

The film was on last night, I took meself off for a bath and to listen to the soundtrack again, and it's just the most delightful thing. Smart lyrics, great music. I'd be so disappointed not to see it again.
