Yup, I missed that too. Clearly on a mission to reduce my information intake. And how did you know that the pesky password demand nearly foiled my booking? I should remember resetting them before I start booking. Or *gasp* remember a gazillion random passwords...

Password thing is devilish. I set a theatre password with the name of the last play I saw there plus a number. Then I forget what I saw, then I reset it the same....like one of Dante's circles of hell. So I phone.
The tix I had were v good but then I got a better offer....the nice people at Delfont M allowed me to change to another date but by then I had to settle for less good seats.

My thoughts. For a first preview it is well paced, well performed, Adrian Scarborough is very good, David Tennant is pretty good, all eyes on him when he's on stage.
There are some very funny lines *no spoilers please, or use the spoiler function*.
But I really really didn't like it. I found it uncomfortable viewing. Women being used and degraded while the audience sniggers. Religion taunted while the audience sniggers. Nah, not for me, ta.
Audience full of fan girls in full on adoration of Tennant, laughing that bit too hard. Couple next to me left at the interval (the woman had checked her phone bloody twice in Act One).

Isn't it the point that he's meant to be vile? He's not a loveable rogue, he does ruin people's lives. That's why he goes to hell. I remember this coming over really well with Rhys Ifans at the Donmar but then I suppose he doesn't have crazy fangirls worshipping at his feet.

There's some staging that I thought was stage school pretentious (hey, let's all wear white and dance like we just don't care). My thoughts. |

It finished at 9.42pm tonight! Lots of David Tennant fans in (of which I probably am one) who seemed to enjoy him saying the C word.
I didn't love it. Think Tennant is actually the weak link. I didn't buy him as a louche, ammoral seducer when he is playing it goofy for laughs.
I was most excited by the snippet of a Roxy Music song and that you could hire a portable phone charger for £2!

They have opened up bookings for the boxes for this now, if anyone is looking for a cheaper- than- premium ticket.
BTW £115 is only for the Premium seats (which is mostly all that's left now in the stalls for most performances).
As they use dynamic pricing, most of us didn't pay anywhere near that amount! I know I didn't.

Well. This was so torturous, I half expected Shami Chakrabarti to come wading in to defend our human rights.
Alas not. Now I happily admit that David Tennant is probably my favourite Doctor Who but really, this tried my patience. It kind of reminded me a bit of 'Doctor Faustus'. Just without Kit-off Harrington. Sadly.
The best thing about this play? The end reminds you just how fabulous Kiki Dee's 'I've Got The Music In Me' was.
However if you like David Tennant dropping the C-bomb. You'll love it.

It's not a great play by any standard and as much as I love David Tennant, it's not worth the outrageous prices they're charging. I'll pass.
