Well, that was wonderful. The very first thing that happened as I walked in was Mark Rylance asking me if I'd seen Queen Cleopatra, as he had a message for her, which morphed into the messenger scene from A&C. Closely followed by his prison speech from Richard II, next to his tomb. And then a young actor speaking a sonnet just to me, by the tomb of Edward III. Mark also spoke parts of Hamlet and Macbeth. Never thought I'd hear him play Richard II and Hamlet live again. Immense jealousy!!

I saw Rylance do the Tempest in a tiny crypt with a handful of other people, and had a couple of 1-1s.

Now that's not someone I would have expected for the Globe but could be great, sadly I have not booked due to likelihood of people's heads flying off and gorefest and me needing a quick lie down amongst the groundlings.

Really?? I'm not sure the Globe's budget stretches to people's heads flying off to be honest. And I don't think I've ever seen a gorefest there either. Even Titus Andronicus wasn't gory. I think you'll be OK.

You did make me laugh Ryan, or at least would have done if I wasn't in the office and would have received funny looks when I tried to explain it. You may have a point (I am now imagining imitation heads flying off into the audience) but as Latecomer would confirm I can get in a right tiz if someone references even a papercut, I watched the dvd of Titus from the globe and had a little lying down swoon.

New imagery released for Gina McKee in 'Boudica' at the straw doughnut. She looks fierce. Don't mess with The McKee.

I'm sort of boycotting since the writer's a complete a-hole, but the production images are making me slightly regret it.

That's what a good private school education gives you: the knowledge that a play about the London riots, or a play with a strong leading female character are exactly what's going to get produced.

18 months on from this announcement, from The Globe’s tweets it seems today is Emma Rice’s official last day as the Globe’s artistic director

There for both Four Seasons and Match Girl today to show appreciation for her energy and sense of fun.
On reflection not a natural AD for the Globe, been a blast to be part of the party for the last two years, not many more Shakespeare plays that could ‘be Riced Up’ therefore a good time for Emma to move on to her natural home of her own production company.
Fortunate to see numerous Shakespeare productions every year so the experimental and predominately fun nature of her productions was a welcome change, especially when compared to the dirge that was the RSC’s Roman season.
Will be there for the first night of Michelle’s reign on Wednesday and looking forward to the next chapter of one of my favourite places in London.
