Now thinking should have booked for Twelfth Night too. She come across very well in this interview, hats off to her. Have never seen Romeo and Juliet so quite pleased if it's going to be a bit of a different one.

I'm going to bet Roger Allam. If I'm wrong, I'll be disappointed (and may not even go, depending on the full cast), but if I'm right, then I only get bragging rights if I commit and make the statement. So let's wait and see...

Wait, Edward Hogg and Kirsty Bushell as Romeo and Juliet? Well that's hugely unexpected, enormously age-inappropriate, and tremendously exciting all at once! I (being American) am unfamiliar with Edward Hogg and Kristy Bushell, and I would love to hear more about why this casting is exciting, since I may be in London when this production is on this summer. I know I could look them up (and I will), but I would love to hear the opinions of people on this board. |

Emma seems to be going full tilt with the whole plan for 5 years telescoped into the year ahead.So,Daniel Kramer only does Romeo and Juliet because of Emma..thats fine but lets not be deceived there are very many exciting directors who can anticipate working at the Globe in the future.Casting is OK,i Guess,not thrilling and it would be good to see some experienced Globe players in the arena.Personally I think it will be mix of styles and some alienation of many who have deep love of the place.Support Emma to a point but only when the work and the development of thinking are prime considerations...we seem too caught up in access issues....come on,its always been good access there...look at some of the earlier DVD's Henry 1V/V/....Shrew/Henry V111/Errors to witness the enthusiasm of the audience-all levels...all ages. Lets not get fooled by the notion that this was a tourist house now its a revo0lution....we can believe an invented mythology.
What I do feel is required from Chief Exec urgently is a statement on planning for change and whether AD post is to be advertised or a guest invited to plan a complete season...sort of transition.Whatever time is getting short to get 2018 in place and this is a wonderful opportunity to build on past inc Emma and move ahead with belief and determination. This arena,the spirit of the place and the potential will overcome the politics of the immediate.So,please lets hear about plans to develop next year and cease lamenting.

There will be not a few of us who will be seriously annoyed if the Globe goes anywhere near 'darkness' having stumped up dosh to get the place built in the first place. |

Think Emma is fine but mismatched here.....sorry to say that and have shifted rather since appointment in my perspective.
Bet you Greg D invites her to RSC to work her magic and then everyone can cheer the vision of RSC.....its a game.

I think it was clearly a mistake to terminate the relationship when the globe did. However, she doesnt seem bitter, so i will refrain from being too anti them. Unless the season after her is a complete disaster.
Im sure 90% of the audience dont really know or care about this backstage politicking. They just want good stuff playing!

When I went to The Little Match-Girl, the old queen sitting next to me was condescendingly informing their guests that the play's director had completely ruined the Globe Theatre with the heinous use of electric lights. If I were American, I would have shot him dead, as is the custom over there, but I'm not, luckily for him. |

I liked her Comedy of Errors. But to be honest I'm so sick of Lear that I'm not even going to bother unless the supporting cast involves some real gems.

I liked her A Midsummer Night's Dream at Leicester Haymarket with the People Show as the mechanicals.
But her King Lear at Shakespeare's Globe probably won't be quite so uproariously hilarious.
