My money's on a plain wooden stage, lots of hazy, woody smoke, dim lighting, low humming noise increasing as Salome walks on stage barefoot and circles round for at least 5 minutes......

The dance doesn't occupy much time - the play is mostly arch overwrought talk.

A dull play. Saw it destroyed by Stephen Berkoff once - dance of seven veils mimed.

I was assuming that this is the Oscar Wilde play but having just read a review of the same production from Washington - a rave by the way - I'm now not sure who the author is.

Saw the filmed version of the Pacino/Chastain production from a few years back and wasn't impressed, will probably give this a miss.

He was so obsessed he made a film about making the film(Wild Salomé), he attended a screening of both at the BFI with a Q&A with Stephen Fry afterwards a couple of years back, I don't think he'll be doing any more shows here any time soon, China Doll got some terrible reviews on Broadway.

Running time is 90 minutes, so at least not inflated in running time (the Wilde version is usually 90-100 minutes).

I wonder how much there is in it for the actors in going into an existing production like this or the Ivo van Hove Hedda Gabler where the entire staging and interpretation is already fixed.

It's true, it was terrible of me. (in fairness I've heard of weirder research projects) If nothing else it will be a carefully considered and well researched project...
