I actually ‘enjoyed’ this – am I sicko?! Although glad I went with a friend and not with mother. Some of the score is not great but other bits are top notch. Although as LaChuisa scores go its not my fave, its on the pile with First Lady (I really like Marie Christine and See What I want to see). The production and design are great as was Victoria H-B. Not sure about some of the other casting choices though … the sound for the first half was terrible, thankfully the lovely theatre manager listened to my interval moaning and adjustments were made for the second. As a story I’m not sure how to take it. Will it stop me from having another gin at a party? No. In terms of rising to fame through murder Chicago is stronger ... and but totally different. Still an interesting night at the theatre and a good launch for the rebranding of the venue. I am now very interested to see the Lippa version. I’m listening to the recording and its vastly different perhaps I could take my mother to see his take on it …

I really enjoyed this. Its taken me a couple of days to process it but definitely a solid 4 stars. VHB was brilliant, made a strong contribution to that solid 4. As alluded to elsewhere a definite 5 stars for the staff at the Other Palace

Made a spontaneous trip to see this on Saturday with a bunch of friends and I loved it! The whole cast were amazing, Francis, Vixs & Lizzy were OUTSTANDING! I couldn't keep my eyes off them! I found act 1 a bit slow apart from the end of act 1, I preferred Act 2 as there was more going on etc. Loved the show overall though, shame it's closing on Saturday

Looking forward to seeing this tonight. Keeping an open mind... several pre-show cocktails hopefully will set the mood.

Saw the matinee today - 3rd and, alas, last time. They were recording the performance with two cameras and it felt like the cast cranked it up a notch. It was a wild show. Frances Ruffelle was intense and amazing as was Simon Thomas as Black. Not enough attention has been paid to him - he's wonderful in an underwritten and difficult role.
At one point in the second act, Lizzy Connolly was on her knees about a foot away from me (first row) lighting a cigarette and listening to Ako Mitchell singing Golden Boy - a scene fragment in which she's totally in the shadows - and there were tears streaming down her face. Talk about an actor being in the moment. This show is like that. I think it's a genuine masterpiece and this has been a brilliant production of it.

What in your eyes separates it from other shows you merely "really liked"?

f*** it! Mad dash to TKTS then! Thanks for the tip, I'm not on Twitter and would've gone straight to the venue and been without a show at all. Thank you!!!!

Tonight's show cancelled due to cast illness, according to Twitter! I wonder if it's Donna McKechnie - she seemed hoarse and congested this afternoon - although she gave a great performance!

It's been on nearly a month!!! No covers?! There is no understudies, and it is a show where if one is out it really does affect the entire show as everyone has solos and everyone has storylines.

I wonder if they're being extra cautious and giving someone tonight off so they don't have to cancel tomorrow or Saturday's performance. Although when I checked last week, Thursday seemed better sold than Friday.
Sorry for the people who had tickets for tonight.

Hopefully there is some availability over the next three days for those who were meant to go tonight, at least at discount price if the seats aren't in the price range they paid and if not, the offer to maybe stand at the back or something for like 75% off haha.

Anyone who bought through TKTS was given a refund without even asking. I went back for a ticket to something else and get a refund and they already had my refund slip processed and waiting, saying I'll be refunded within 2-3 days.

Good night tonight!! I would guess it was one of two, maybe three, people who were ill yesterday.
A couple of mishaps, a rogue pillow and ashtray to be precise. Said pillow could've been quite dangerous if someone had slipped on it.
Anyway, last trip to the show and I still really enjoyed it.
Oh. I know what I meant to say. I saw it last Tuesday (21st) and the intro was different as one of the brothers wasn't involved. Wonder what happened?!

Matinee cancelled, they're offering free drinks in the bar to soften the blow which is nice but still it's a bit annoying they can't even try and fudge something together with the remaining healthy cast members

I guess they can't risk the final show not going ahead. As I say, I have my suspicions but there's no point saying as it could be completely wrong.

Yeah I guess I'm in a bad mood as I feel like they've wasted my afternoon but I don't understand why in a town like London chocked full of talent it could ever be neccesary to send a good 150 audience members home disgruntled. The amount of MT grads who'd give a limb to step into a role last minute and may already know the piece.
It's just unimaginative producing, fair enough if a few of the cast are off you can't do the full show but at least give us a concert or Q and A or something.
lol I'll cool down now and let it go :-p

Got this email - Dear Valued Customer, We apologise that today’s performance of The Wild Party was cancelled due to cast illness.
We have been informed that tonight's show is going ahead. Due to the limited number of seats available for tonight's performance we are holding a queue outside the theatre from 6pm and will be selling tickets on a first come first served basis. Please note that you are welcome to begin queuing outside the theatre before but sales will begin at 6pm
- way to make me feel valued, offering me the chance to queue for a potential ticket to the show you cancelled. I think I'll give it a miss

This is the definition of a poor "customer experience". These fringe venues are meant to be all about getting people into theatre and providing a quality, homely experience...

It's a shame. Hope you hadn't rebooked from Thursday night.
It's just the way of Off West-End shows isn't it, not to have understudies. They cancelled Ragtime a couple of times last year and did a few concert performances and found a stand in for a couple.
When they cancelled Thursday night, they should've perhaps got someone in to learn the role so they could've performed it with a book in concert form. That said, the dancing is so integral, it would fall very flat without it. Also, this is assuming it's the same person who's ill today, as Thursday.

I decided to book this at the last minute so bought my ticket at noon today to find out it was cancelled at 2pm.... I guess they were trying to make it work (otherwise why not just cancel when the sick performer woke up?) so by then it was probably too late to bring in any sort of "cover" or concert-like performance. Just a shame it's everyone's last day.

Aaaah, I wondered about the surprisingly long queue when I went to pick up my ticket for tonight. Whew, seems it was a close shave this time after I had Ragtime cancelled on me last November. So thanks to this lovely forum I now also know to not expect the full thing tonight.

The amount of MT grads who'd give a limb to step into a role last minute and may already know the piece. Do you really think it's that easy to parachute any performer (let alone an MT Grad) into a tightly choreographed production like TWP without causing problems? If only it were that simple!

They did it in Into The Woods in Manchester. Admittedly the student in question had just played the role in a student production, but still, if everyone involved wanted to make it work, even with book in hand and/or some reblocking, I'm sure they could have.
