Eh, I never see the point in getting worked up about the top price, as I never pay it anyway. I know it takes the piss in some theatres where the top price tickets are everywhere and the affordable tickets are tucked behind pillars or up in the rafters, but the Olivier is pretty equitable for views, even if you're in the furthest possible corner from the stage, and the NT does have a reasonable quantity of affordable seats alongside the pricey bastards.

Um, are they only putting August and September tickets on sale at first? That's less than 30 performances, it's going to be a horrifying scrum for tickets. I think I might just wait for the extension...

Overall the new nt schedule seems exciting . Now they have announced it all for follies I am very excited but for me Ido not know how I feel about the poster, I liked the original posters but this one is clever bu it just seems a bit odd.

It doesn't say anything about Entry Pass and Amex Pre-sale Anything on entry pass dates, or is it a case of tweeting them the question? If memory serves, Entry Pass tickets usually go on sale the Wednesday before the Public release, so this time round it'll probably be on the 3rd of May. I haven't seen any official word on it from the National, though. |

I am really not sure the director Is capable of pulling off a bit musical What other ones has he directed? I don't see any musicals in his bio on the NT site, but they have listed a few operas. Personally I'm happy to wait and decide whether he can direct a musical or not until he's actually done one.  |

Am I being stupid? I can't find the exact dates past September. The PDF tells me "for performances in October and November check the production page" but the production page only lists the few Access performances?

They don't have the "Dates and buy tickets" button in the top right corner of the website yet. It's fairly common to put the show page online without that link, and if I cheat and put www.nationaltheatre.org.uk/shows/follies/whats-on in the address bar, then it looks like they haven't actually made the page in its entirety yet. If tickets are going on sale in two weeks though, there shouldn't be long to wait, hopefully... |

I don't imagine An American I P will still be on in August to be honest.
I also don't get why the fact the director hasn't staged a musical before is a problem- I'd be more concerned if it was someone who had directed them before, and there were some terrible ones on his cv.

Follies needs an outstanding director to make it work - a terrible one destroyed it at the Royal Albert Hall concert - and I think Dominic Cooke is a good choice.

The Royal Festival Hall one in 2002 was also pretty dodgy, an ill fitting venue and with static direction. The show also suffers from having different versions so, whatever is done, you start off with a part of the audience not agreeing with the choices already made. It doesn't need spectacle apart from Loveland but it is helped by a kinetic staging, I'd like to see a more expressionist take myself but we 'll get what we get.

Can you explain what entry pass is? I'm dying to get tickets and want to know what early options are... It's a way for anyone aged between 16-25 to get dirt cheap tickets for shows at the National! Previously £5 for yourself, £7.50 for a friend. Now up to £7.50 & £10 respectively. As mentioned by someone before me, they usually go on sale the Wednesday before the public booking opens on the Friday. And they sell out pretty fast - thought the NT have sometimes been known to add some more as the run goes along, or for occasions like being in the theatre for the NT Live screening once they have their camera positions sorted.
