This production (the one with Judi Dench) is one of the best I've ever seen and I stupidly didn't buy the cast CD when it came out. I've been looking for a few years now and they all seemed to be £80 and above so couldn't justify it really. But just bought one from Amazon for £16 via a third seller. It's brand new and seems to have the original liner notes and quality is great. Just thought I'd put it up here as I think there may be people out there that are looking for it.

Amazing production and an amazing recording. So much to admire about the CD. My highlights are JD's Clowns, PH's My husband the pig and the version of Glamourous Life

...don't forget Issy's 'Millers Son'. Outstanding! We went not knowing what to expect; first Sondheim, first National. The whole thing dripping in quality. Simply marvellous.

I don't have a copy of the physical CO (agate expensive and kicking myself that I was in London at the time and despite seeing this production never bought the CO Grr! ) but bizzarly my younger cousin in Australia unexpectedly had a copy and sent it to me digitally.
I agree about My Husband The Pig. Having seen other productions of this show and having never heard that song I was somewhat curious. I have never seen it included since and am now so pleased I have a copy of this.

I think I might have just nabbed the last copy in stock - it said '1 left' - unless the seller is listing them one at a time.

However, I LOVE this recording... I wasn't even born when this revival was staged, I'm so glad this cd exists.

Thanks for the heads up here - managed to grab a copy.
Any love here for the ORIGINAL London Cast Recording? By far my favourite recording of the show...

I remember seeing it at the NT. God I am soooo old. I went to the opening night of the OLC at the Adelphi so if you are feeling that makes me absolutely decrepit. Didn't see the NT version but I have listened to the CD and of course seen Judi Dench sing it various times. I still think the definitive version of Send In The Clowns was by Glynis Johns on I think the Russell Harty Show (or maybe it was Parkinson). Johns was supposed to do it in London and then it was announced that the production had been cancelled. I remember she was moved to tears at the end of her rendition probably realising that she would never do it on the London stage. It opened about a year later with Jean Simmons.

I saw the NT version too and thought it was beautiful. An incredible cast! I didn't see the Adelphi production but borrowed the OLC LP from the library and played it and played it... I too remember seeing Glynis Johns singing Send In The Clowns, but like you, buddyvlc, cannot remember which Saturday night show it was. I know I saw it quite by chance. Just happened to be on TV. Intrigued, I asked my dad what the song was about (we weren't a theatre-going family) and he told me he thought it was about a trapeze artist who has fallen during her act... Completely wrong I found out later on, but his idea has stayed with me, as it's not a bad metaphor I suppose. Something else I caught quite by chance on TV late one evening was the Follies concert with Elaine Stritch and Lee Remick. Why did they always put Sondheim on TV so late? Still, at least they put him on TV in those days...

I have this one plus OLC and OBC. Used Used to have one with Sian Phillips as Desiree on cassette ... and the Radio 2 broadcast with Betty Buckley, ditto. Even the Liz Taylor film can't really harm this score.

Having searched on Amazon previously for this, I now receive regular emails telling me it's available..! Seems it is now for just under £16, and there are quite a few copies, if anyone is interested.
