So after Sarah Harding foray into musical theatre, as very much noted in all parts of the media this week.
So what pop stars have found a second coming in theatre? Successful or not? Please also name the band if they were in one.

There was a tv show Pop Star to Opera Star, short lived ... Jimmy Osmond was on it, went on to be in the Chicago UK tour, and Teen Angel in Londons Grease. Darius Campbell was also in that show. Bernie Nolan. Both gone on to do other stuff. Donny Osmond was in Beauty and The Beast on Broadway a few years ago. Was also inJoseph and the Technicolour Dreamcoat through the US and Canada (and taped with Maria Friedman as the Narrator). Marie Osmond was in The Sound of Music on Broadway.

Mel C (Spice Girls) and Will Young were both nominated for Oliviers weren't they?
Blood Brothers has employed a lot of the Nolans and Peculiar Clark.
Jason Donovan. Beverley Knight.

Please also name the band if they were in one. The MT world is full of people who were first noted on X factor. Its a long list from Lucie Jones to Brenda Edwards, Rhydian, Alexandra Burke, Leona Lewis and Diana Vickers, Nearly all of the winners are now Somewhere between Broadway and singing Joseph - whatever Simon still says about Musical Theatre . All sorts of other people started in pop- from the Nolans to Lyn Paul. Suzanne Shaw from Hearsay and Liz McClarnon from Atomic Kitten have also both done musicals well - and are in a new musical in Blackpool this autumn. The trick is to identify who can act well , who can sing whats required, and who will pick up what they can't do, and not give them songs they can't sing or roles they cant act.

Clodagh Rodgers... remember her hot pants for Eurovision's Jack in the Box...? was in Pump Boys and Dinettes and then Blood Brothers.
Kiki Dee... Don't Go Breaking My Heart... also appeared in Blood Brothers.
Nick Jonas (was it that one?) had a go at singing Marius in Les Mis. Gareth Gates was a great Marius. He also appeared in Joseph. As did Stephen Gately.
Wasn't Ronan Keeting in Once recently?
Lulu was in Tell Me On A Sunday and Edwin Drood.

Natasha Hamilton was an excellent Mrs J when she was at the Phoenix a few years back. It seems that was her debut role.
Obviously we can't be sure any of these didn't do amateur theatre when they were younger, but on the professional circuit we can talk confidently about their experience.

He was very good and sang really nicely in tomorrow morning. But I think he started in MT (Oliver and Les Mis I think) before S Club so not entirely surprising.

But then S Club did do their fair bit of acting, so no doubt he improved a fair bit during their years too.

Jon Lee of S Club fame made a good stab at Marius! Very good indeed.
Faye Tozer off of steps gave a good Lina Lamont in the last 'SITR' tour too!
Gates was in Legally Blonde too, was alright; Warner is a bit of a nothing part so not really a stretch.

H from Steps was utterly awful in Joseph years ago. Duncan James from Blue wasn't much better in Chicago.
On the other hand, his bandmate Antony Costa was surprisingly good as Mickey in Blood Brothers. I saw him several times in the end, and his singing was varying degrees of decent to weak depending on the day, but I was surprised by how well he could act. I found him very believable both as child Mickey and all the way through to the troubled adult. It's still one of my favourite pieces of celebrity casting I've seen.

Matt Cardle in Memphis.I really enjoyed his performance, he surprised me a lot and thought he could have got a lot of further work if he'd wanted to but guess he's not been keen to stay in theatre.

Not even a pop star - anyone remember Philip Schofield as Joseph? Definitely remember it as it the first musical I ever saw, and he was brilliant in it. Perfect example of a "name" bringing their personality to a show but also being able to do the role justice.

Tell Me On A Sunday, Saucy Jack and the Space Vixens, The Eva Cassidy musical, Dial M For Murder, Tailor Made Man (I wish they'd made a recording of her main song). Also Love Shack; did anyone else see that?

There was PP Arnold in Starlight Express. Petula Clarke in Sunset Boulevard.
Also I remember the double of Kid Creole and Bernie Nolan in "Oh What A Night". She sang really well. The less said about every other aspect of that show the better.
And then of course there's Marti Pellow.
