People know what BOM is about and know it offends everyone. So if it's not your thing, don't go. Save your money. As the song goes "turn it off".

I'm not going to apologise for finding it very funny and, will no doubt, be going to see it again when it reopens.

That seems like a great place to park this discussion because it can’t go any further. Some people like it some people don’t.

Any show that makes the former Daily Mail’s theatre critic and bigoted Quentin Letts’ apoplectic with rage, is totally okay by me.
The show is a hoot, nothing more, nothing less.

I had this booked for 31st July and checked my DMT account Ana it’s been moved to 4th December!

I'd booked for the first show back (12 July) and now seem to be attending on 15 November.
Maybe they need more time to rewrite the book and take out all the offensive parts?

This may be linked to the issues around Scott Rudin's behaviour and the fact that he is stepping back from an active role in all theatre productions. I suspect there are quite a lot of legal shenanigans going on behind the scenes.
Also, as has been mentioned, there have been workshops taking place with a view to rewriting some sections, and these may well not have been completed (especially as Broadway is some way from announcing reopening) and I'm guessing that they don't want to reopen without making some changes. So they are probably just being cautious about announcing exactly when the West End and tour will recommence.
Sonia Friedman has said today that she 'remains committed to the current west end and touring productions of the Book of Mormon' (whatever that means!)

Based on latest available information and to allow the show to open safely without social distancing, THE BOOK OF MORMON will now start performances from 15th November 2021. This means that the performance you booked for, unfortunately, will not go ahead as scheduled.
Edit to add: the email I got has the wrong performance details on 🤭

I hope it doesn't have anything to do with rewrites. I'd lose interest pretty fast, and I was looking forward to this one. Seems a big pushback if it's just about social distancing though.

To make it a lot less controversial, in the new version the Mormons will no longer be heading to Uganda and are now trying to convert the French!

So apparently the Broadway production has put on an extra ‘fan performance’ free of charge the night before it was supposed to reopen. Has anyone heard anything about similar for London? Bit of a slap in the face to those of us who bought tickets months ago, with the specific purpose of being at the announced reopening night, if so.

I wouldn’t be surprised. I can’t remember where it was, but a few weeks ago I saw it mentioned as reopening on the 14th, and I went straightaway to check tickets and found it was still the 15th. I will be extremely annoyed if they do this, I’ve only just booked my train but have zero interest in travelling down for a second night instead of a first.

Did any of the rumoured changes ever happen to this show, or will we not know until it opens

Sorry but yes, 15th November won’t be the first performance. Really understand your frustration, it was the same for me with Frozen when they added an earlier first preview for competition winners. I just tried to convince myself that the being at the first public performance is still great, but of course it’s not the same is it.

I think I’ll ask for a refund. This was going to cost me quite a lot, but it was worth it. It no longer is.

While not a musical I plan to see it was very sad seeing the Prince of Wales theatre will all the show marquee removed when up in London, made the building look very sad and a bit dilapidated. At least with it coming back the signs and lights should be back soon and once again be a great sight to see as you amble between Piccadilly and Leicester Square.
