Wouldn't it be a better gauge of someone's real abilities to ask them to sing a song which is well known enough for them to be able to have a crack at, but which they haven't prepared for? I'd rather see someone at their best. |

But then someone whose done a shed load of preparation over God only knows how much time, and perfected those one or two songs down to a tee, isn't necessarily going to be giving a fair representation of their talents are they? The talent that matters is the ability to sing well after many rehearsals. Allowing people to prepare so they're as good as they can be is exactly the representation of talent that's needed. |

I'd probably pick something boring like an old standard, knowing me. For something particularly rousing I can belt out You'll Never Walk Alone, although I need to be drunk for the full effect to work and all.......

I imagine that's on the panels s**t list too I'm sure it is, but it's one of my favourite songs and one I've sung in concerts a few times, so I'd be less nervous doing it. This is all hypothetical anyway of course, I haven't even done am dram for nearly a decade, so I doubt I'll be auditioning for anything anytime soon! |

I don't like Stars much so that neatly side steps that problem.
My main audition problem is that my day dreams about doing it (as it'll get no further than that for everyone's sake) are tempered by the reality I can't remember anything, so I'll have to go for What I Did For Love, as about half the lyrics are repetitions of "what I did for love" and when my voice quivers with nerves the panel might think it's emotion.
Much respect to those of you who actually have to go through auditions (and keep going despite having to).
