Who chooses the nominees exactly? I presume the editor of West End Frame If that is the case, it really does just show how bullsh*t these awards are. I enjoy them because it is fun to discuss Understudies and their performances, but for a random editor to choose the nominees, well just about says it all doesn't it.

Not sure but I follow Westendframe and I don't remember being able to submit nominations I think they choose. The Whatsonstage awards are the ones were you nominate a production/actor for each category and then vote in the shortlist. I love how they do that!!

Perhaps controversially as this is the musicals forum, I voted for Thomas Dennis from Curious Incident. I do normally prefer musicals to plays, but Curious Incident is my favourite play and I saw Thomas as Christopher recently and thought he was excellent. He is on stage most of the time and gives a very dramatic and emotive performance. I think all the Christopher's I've seen have been excellent though. Thomas was also very nice to chat to afterwards at stage door - although I do realise this shouldn't be a deciding factor on who to vote for! Like most voters I expect, I haven't seen most of the nominees, so could only vote on my limited experience.

Not gonna lie, kinda sad Jocasta didn't even make it onto the top 17 list. Surprised Callum, Ria and Carina didn't get higher on the list either! Quite surprised Thomas won over Natasha but also somewhat happy that it was a pleasant surprise for me anyway that he won!

Wow. Didn't even know that Christopher had an alternate, I just sort of assumed that Natasha Barnes would win this. Interesting to see that a play won out over a swarm of musicals.

I like someone from a play won and also someone who hasn't seemed high profile. I find it odd that Leon Craig is in there though, surely he's only been on a couple of times so far?

I agree nice to see a play win, as often it can be 'whoever has the most Twitter followers' I'd love to see the voting numbers posted too. I'm really surprised Callum wasn't higher on the list. That's who I voted for and thought a lot more would too. Leon Craig hasn't been on much as I think he's second cover with Oliver Lidert as first. From the looks of it if Oliver does a week Leon gets one show. In this case I'd think it would be friends & family votes.
Does it say how many people voted in total?
