Hope Baz has more on this tonight?
Could this be a post-Strictly project for Will Young? Wasn't Alan Cumming connected at one point?
Perhaps this is the Menier Christmas show? It would certainly work better in an intimate venue to begin with at least just as the original production did.

If this transferred, I probably wouldn't see it as it really doesn't interest me at all. I'd be interested to see where it goes though as lots of venues are taken for next year and loads of rumours are flying around. It could be a could choice for the Menier, like zsazsa said

Oh Lordy please don't let it be Will Young! No offence to the guy but just coz he can sing and he's done a German accent before don't make me Headwig.
I'm kinda hoping they go for a woman.....

I could be wrong, but it doesn't sound like a MCF production if this is a duplication of the Broadway version. Do we have a replacement for Guys & Dolls and the Phoenix?

I think Young could be pretty decent in the role and seems like an obvious choice, it would be cool to have some less obvious casting though With regards to a woman playing the role, the first thing I said after seeing Jane Horrocks in If You Kiss Me, Kiss me, was what an amazing Hedwig she would make.

The Girls in January. From what I've heard, nothing has been confirmed for the Phoenix

Phoenix only has a short dark period so if they do fill it it'll be likely something from a touring production or a short run. I don't see it being Hedwig.
Intrigued to hear more about this though.

Could this go to the Playhouse after An Inspector Calls

The original production went into the Playhouse (with Michael Cerveris).

That Playhouse production was DIRE. Before the recent Broadway re-write, which adapts the text brilliantly into a proscenium theatre space, it needed somewhere intimate and the Playhouse was like a barn. Didn't help there were less than a hundred audience members most nights. The new version is funny and contemporary and could do well in a short west end run.

Will Young sounds like a good idea. It seems harder to find a musical theatre "star" over here, so maybe the producers would just see "Pop star + Olivier nomination". Maybe John Barrowman could do it after panto? Or maybe Matt Smith? (Not just listing Dr Who people here). Also I wonder who would play Yitzak?

Have absolutely 0 insider info, but when I was at Funny Girl at the Menier last year, Michael Mayer (director of Hedwig and FG) was speaking to Eddie Redmayne at the interval. It'd definitely be an interesting choice!

Isn't John Barrywhatsit WAY too old to play Hedwig? Think 30-40 is the bracket? He must be in his 50s now?
ER would be phenomenal casting!!!

But Alan Cumming's name has been mentioned, also John Cameron Mitchell played it again at 51/52. In this video he says Hedwig can be played by an older person as technically she would be 54 now (or when the video was made 2 years ago) as she's meant to be 26 in 1988.
