This isn't worth doing unless you get Neil Patrick Harris to star. In your opinion... of the three Hedwigs I saw, he was great but my least favourite. I saw NPH, Rannells, and Taye Diggs, and Diggs was my least favorite (I went on his first night, which may have been the longest two hours of his life). NPH was fine but the show felt much more relaxed and about the SHOW rather than who was playing Hedwig when Rannells took over. That said, this production wouldn't have existed without NPH, and I enjoyed him.

I also really enjoyed NPH, think he deserved his Tony etc. but would be more than happy to see the show with someone else too. Would have definitely gone back for Andrew Rannells and John Cameron Mitchell if I lived in NYC.

Menier I'm not bitter but I write in the 'meneir Christmas musical' board that I wanted hewing there a bit before you posted yours. Did you copy me? Oh darling, I don't want you to be bitter. No, you posted "hoping" for Hedwig in the Menier thread yesterday. I started this thread way back on the 11th of August. So have no fear.

Was I the only one whom checked the meniers website 4 minutes after this post? Gutted I was keeping the Mark Owen theme. Apologies, MrsL.

He's not got the inner show off required for Hedwig...

Robbie Williams would be an amazing choice for this. Is Mark Owen a someone? OMG, I'd love to see Robbie in this. I'd say Mark Owen is almost as big as him. His post-Take That solo career was never as huge as Robbie's, but he was always the "cute one" out of them and had a huge fan following. Or perhaps that was just me ...

A lot of people started liking Robbie best but shifted their allegiances to Mark very quickly for an array of reasons (we were clearly around the age where we began exploring prudery, as more than one friend went off Robbie upon discovering he smoked, but also a LOT of people never quite forgave him for *gasp* LEAVING Take That). And, of course, a lot of people who weren't quite ready to embrace Robbie's bad boy charms (look, we were REALLY YOUNG at the time) immediately fell for Mark as a much safer-seeming option for their latent sexual awakening.

So NPH is in London at the moment - might this be Hedwig related???

I'd rather eat my own liver than consider seeing Mark Owen and (even worse) Robbie Williams in this no matter how much I want to see the show itself.
It's a great show and a tremendous part for an actor, surely they'd at least be able to find someone with a bit of talent to be able to do it justice instead of these two over the hill pub singers?

Robbie is about to come out with a new album and his promo circus is about to go into overdrive. Can't imagine this'll fit in with plans.

The topic has created 5 pages of responses but there is no definitive statement or press release that the show is even coming! Baz and Mark Shenton haven't even discussed it...

The topic has created 5 pages of responses but there is no definitive statement or press release that the show is even coming! Baz and Mark Shenton haven't even discussed it... This may shock you but some of us on here actually work in the industry, and so often know things that journos like Baz and Shenton either don't know or won't discuss. Saying people are lying has pushed away some great industry insiders in the past, and makes the ones that remain unlikely to post. I could tell you what Sondheim revival is touring next year (with an eye on going into town after), what musical is going to have a quick run at Traf Studios 1 in the Autumn to see if it is worth a full time place in town, which well-received fringe show now has a West End house booked for next year, I could even give a full account of what happened on the night of technical difficulties at Funny Girl. But it is responses like yours that make me usually not bother anymore. What can be gained by going onto the internet and lying on a tiny forum? Why would anyone bother?
