Shenton's review in the Stage makes me believe that this was exactly the vanity project I feared it was:

Which is a shame - especially considering the debate on ethnic diversity on stage, I feel that a Marco Polo musical may have serious potential to be something great. Apparently this isn't.

Would be curious to hear from anyone who's actually going to see it.
