The country loves this and I do too.
This must be the 4th UK tour then?

The last tour was shockingly bad and amateurish. Hopefully this will be more like the west end version.

Do we know if this is the production which originally toured or the Curve version?

Do we know if this is the production which originally toured or the Curve version? I think it is done by the same people who did the previous tour? Can remember, when it was announced, that is was the same tour

The original tour was launched in WMC and was based on the west end version whereas the last tour only visited the much smaller Cardiff New Theatre and was based on the Curve version so I would expect this new tour is more like the original. Hoorah!

Which tour, the 1st or 2nd? Have you got a source?

Which tour, the 1st or 2nd? Have you got a source? The most recent one. Click on the link. It is being produced my Mark Goucher and Co (along with other producers) once more, who did the curve one

Which tour, the 1st or 2nd? Have you got a source? The most recent tour of the Leicester Curve production by the look of it, seeing as it's using the same website and the "As light and bouncy as a bubble of gum" quote on the WMC page was used for that production.

Although I love the show, I saw the last tour twice in Wimbledon and Bromley, however the set was gaudy Wilbur Turnblad trick shop was non existent and the final ***Hairspray*** can was terrible.

Thanks for the info George and James. Enjoyed the last tour, mostly for the performances, just wish their sets didn't look quite so cheap and dumbed down from the original West End/touring production!

I wonder if it will be the same cast? Doubt it - lots of the cast have already moved on

I really did like that cast Still doubt it, Tony moved on before the end of the tour if I remember rightly and knowing what Hairspray does with their casting, it seems unlikely that someone would reprise their role. The only ones to have done it in the past have been Freya who has done it quite a few times, and Sandra Marvin who is known now for being able to quickly cover for Maybelle. I think it would be unlikely for Brenda to go back, especially since she got so ill last time

I really preferred the original Curve production. Practically to a man (or women) I thought it was a much better cast than the tour. The only one i could say was a tie were the two Motermouths. I thought the original production was just better all round really. I did enjoy the tour though.

Really, this is a show that can still be enjoyed even with a flimsy set. I saw the last tour 3 times and loved it every time.

Sandra Marvin or Brenda Edwards as Motormouth Maybelle - both brilliant in the role. Edna and Velma will inevitably be stunt casting (though both Tony and Claire were great on the last tour).

Yeah I totally agree! Brenda was amazing and so was Sandra! Yeah but I think Edna and Velma are both great characters to play so they will pick good celebrities for them parts. Tony and Claire were both amazing last time - I loved the previous cast!! I also think Mica Paris would make a good Motormouth Maybelle!

Kerry Ellis would be insane as Velma! Or Hilary O'Neil would be good. Evelyn Hoskins would be great as Penny. Fleur East could be good as Motormouth Maybelle. Scott Paige needs to be Edna someday.
