I was travelling on a train down to Bristol yesterday when, for a good twenty minutes from around 19:35, various mobiles in the carriage were being activated at different times with the emergency warning about Storm Darragh. The accompanying noise was quite piercing and loud.
Was anyone on here in Bristol, Cardiff, Swansea, etc. at the theatre during this time, and how did the cast cope?
It would not be so bad if the message was sent to all phones at the same time, so that it could be over and done with, but the fact that they were spread out over nearly half an hour must have made it very difficult for performances.
One thing these messages do demonstrate though is the importance of NOT turning your phone off in the theatre. You should only silence them so that you can be alerted to any local emergency situation, e.g. "there is a gunman on the loose in this area; stay indoors".
Whether telling people on a Friday evening about the following day's weather constituted the need for this level of warning is another matter.

Well, if it alerts people to tie stuff down or double check stuff is tied down or put away, then all good.
Death by scaffolding plank or pole, or flying garden trampoline is not ideal

They can't be turned off, and the siren will sound even if you're in Silent/Do Not Disturb/Theatre Mode. Came through on two phones here at 7pm and then on my watch about 7.45pm.

You could just turn your phone off.

No, I didn't get the overnight alarms. I'm in South Wales technically just outside the red area but in orange alert areas for both wind and rain for the rest of the day.

I was at Hamilton in Cardiff Friday evening. Didn't hear anything during the show but it went crazy at the interval as people turned phones on and a few seemed to think it was a call to evacuate. Happened again at the end but to a much lesser extent.

My partner and I got the alarm at the same time through our mobiles, on the Friday-evening. We nearly sh*t ourselves.
I think it's good they did it. However, the number of items flying around on a main road on the Saturday-morning meant people didn't follow up on securing items on their drives or in yards.
One road traffic sign, a big one indicating for the M5 etc was torn off one pole, big tear through the top corner.

What about Flight Mode? (which my phone is always on whilst in theatre auditoriums) No alert in Flight Mode as your phone is not receiving phone or WiFi signal to tell it to trigger the alert.
