Two shows I think would be very good and new choices for Chichester would be Damn Yankees or Bye Bye Birdie. Quite American shows that hopefully wouldn't get lost but I can imagine they could be cast with some good names.
Also would love a new version of Chicago not linked to the Fosse one at all but that seems very unlikely.

I’m still surprised that ‘South Pacific’ didn’t transfer into a central West End house. That cast was as good as it gets, and sticking it into Sadlers Wells didn’t show a lot of faith. The programming comes across as a bit flaky at times, deliberately avoiding money makers for whatever reason. At least they had a plan with ‘Oliver’ this year which should boost their coffers at least. It’s not a uni drama society, it’s a commercial theatre with a quite specific audience. Play to it! Take their money.

A few months onwards from the last post here - is anybody any the wiser on what we might be expecting musical-wise at CFT next year?

How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying hasn't been done in quite some time but I don't think it's that. A new version of Spamalot would be good but I want the Open Air to do that so my guess is Forum.

West Side Story would be nice and certainly overdue for a revival.

West Side Story would be nice and certainly overdue for a revival. Nope! Though you’re not wrong, and I could see that working well on the CFT stage

Seven Brides would be a good one for Chichester.
Assume it's another golden age/classic. There can't be many of the big ones left they haven't done.
On The Town?

Annie Get Your Gun? Or maybe Mack and Mabel. They did Mack and Mabel a few years ago, with Michael Ball, so I'd be surprised if it was that. Would be great if they did Mame, though not holding my breath!

But after the Crazy for you disappointment I'm not sure how transfer focused they are. Could opt to tour instead.

Agree, Seven Brides would be an interesting choice. And re; Mack and Mabel, it would have been 10 years since the Michael Ball version so guess that's a fair break. And Jerry Herman was a great master of tunes which is always a plus for the Chichester audience.
