I thought this was excellent tonight.
It’s a taught 80 minutes straight through that is totally absorbing and also funny. The cast is top notch and very tight for only the second performance. Finn Cole is superb (in red speedos throughout) as is also Ciaran Owens who plays his brother. Their scenes really stand out with a particularly physical moment at the end.
The set is very impressive with a mini swimming pool (you can actually smell the chlorine!) sunk into the floor, a bit like what they did for The Mikvah Project but more effective.
Oh, and if you’re on the front row, A31 - 38, prepare to get wet. I was sat there and was lucky - others weren’t.

Agree
And a wonderfully staged fight at the end
Acting amazing all round
Particularly loved the girlfriend character and the actress playing her

Interesting to hear 2 positive reports & so soon, though ironically this was the only one of the productions from the current season which didn't appeal to me when booking opened. I may have to re-think this though slogging to & from Richmond for a short matinee isn't great.

Glad to read some positive reviews on this - I have a ticket next week to see it.

Watching this next week, really looking forward to seeing how they manage to install a pool in that small a space!!! I haven't seen it, but reading this thread I really want to now, so planning to book. I did see the The Mikvah Project there, so they definitely have experience putting a pool in!

Maybe someone should start a thread on best pool installation.
Would flooding Albert Hall arena count?

I should be seeing this in a few weeks, nice to see it’s getting such a good response.
Wasn’t there something about them having to dig up half the floor for The Mikvah Project? Probably been looking for an excuse to use it again ever since.

Maybe someone should start a thread on best pool installation. Would flooding Albert Hall arena count? The Tempest at the Almeida. Big deep still pool centre stage. Quite a long way into the play with Prospero talking and the surface of the water starts to move slightly then suddenly Ariel bursts up from under the water right in the centre of the pool. A staggering effect. Director Jonathan Kent. He used the trick again in a Greek play at the Donmar I think.

He looked VERY blue.

I remember Simon Russell-Beale playing Ariel was dressed entirely in bright blue.

Really enjoyed this, more of a comedy than a thriller. Dunster immediately on the ball for directing in the round (square) space, looked effortless which it doesn't always at OT. Great work from Cole and Owens.

Loved this tonight. Great writing and great performances all round. It will hopefully have a life beyond the Orange Tree but well worth the visit to Richmond. ⭐️🌟🌟🌟 from me.

Saw this last night and it is definitely the best production I've seen at the OT this year (and I've seen them all). I thought from the start the acting was instantly believable and the performances from all four cast members were very strong, there was none of the creakiness that I've seen in some recent OT shows. Also felt that the staging was excellent (again the best I've seen this year at the OT), it really felt immersive, which I think is particularly important when you're watching theatre in the round.
I thought the acting and staging were actually better than the play itself, which for me I would rate as interesting, rather than outstanding, but it is definitely worth seeing. On Saturday night, it was clearly a younger demographic than the usual OT audience, which I suspect is due to Finn Cole's involvement.

Just saw this and it was phenomenal. Visceral, pacey, witty and really muscular in more ways than one. Show is really quick probably shorter than the 90mins advertised. The cast is impeccable. People will go for Finn Cole (who is in a Speedo the whole time), but the rest of the cast is really what makes this work so compelling. Fraser James, Parker Lapaine and Ciaran Owens give nuanced and finely tuned characters. Ciaran balancing ruthlessness and fraternal love so seamlessly. It's a small theatre so front seats might get some splashes. PSA- It also gets really loud and violent.

Can any regulars or locals recommend a relatively inexpensive yet nice eatery near the OTT for pre-show purposes?

I don't think they have a website to link to but Pizza Portofino just around the corner from the station is cheap and cheerful but with very good pizza and very good pasta.

Yeah other than the places already mentioned inexpensive in Richmond means the chains or fast food. Even in the pubs main courses start at £20 for the most part.

Probably not the fanciest place but Popeye's Louisiana Chicken is an option and not far from the OT, Tortilla is good as well.
