Yes, please! Tickets quite pricey though… In my experience, generally they are. It's all over Twitter.

She barely had a voice in Old Friends and that was doing a handful of numbers. Her doing a whole show? No thanks.
She was terrible in her last tour at the Festival Hall

Above posts were in her thread in Performers & Creatives but as this is a concert I thought we should have a thread in Musicals for it as we have for Patti’s.

I vaguely remember reading a few days ago that she was coming to London for a summer westendwoofs event. But I did not expect a concert so soon after Old Friends (and at such short notice!). I'd love to go but as I'm coming to London for Hello Dolly in July, I can't return so soon. (At least I got a ticket for Patti's concert!)

She was in much better voice in Old Friends than I was expecting, and being fair - when has Bernadette ever been a GREAT singer?
It's all about the performance, and she absolutely commanded the stage in Old Friends so I'm in (though will wait for offers...!)

Seeing Bernadette these days is a bit like seeing modern day Bob Dylan — a sound is going to come out but only God knows what that sound will be. And I’d pay through the nose for it every time.

It's all about the performance, and she absolutely commanded the stage in Old Friends so I'm in (though will wait for offers...!) I guess that depends on what you call 'a great singer' but she was fabulous in ITW and even better in Sunday. She had power, she had sincerity, she could tell the story of a song and had the ability to move me. Her first tour at the Festival Hall back in the day was a big event and had the audience in the palm of her hand. You had confidence in her ability to really deliver. Yes she has her tics and traits, but that was all part of her endearing quality. She's 76 now and looks amazing. No one has the same voice they had in their prime years and when i watch her now, its with unease. When she needs some power, she might aim for it, bur there's no saying if she'll hit it or for how long. Her high notes aren't there. In Losing My Mind she sometimes just opened her mouth, nothing would come out and then she'd finish by over pronunciatingthe last D in Mind, as if she was singing it all along. Her last tour at the festival hall was not even an hour long. She is a legend in theatre circles and deservedly so, but a whole solo show is a little ambitious at this stage.

A bit like Patti's one. Don't think anyone saw either of them coming.

She was supposed to do a concert at the Lyceum in 2019, but it was canceled at short notice "as a result of Speckulation Entertainment Ltd’s unforeseen inability to fulfill ... contractual obligation". Still, it was selling very poorly and there were loads of offers, especially since she had done a couple of concerts at Royal Festival Hall just four years earlier. I doubt this will sell well, considering that her fans had the whole run of Old Friends to see her (together with other big names), and we all know how grim those sales were.

The concert that was cancelled still had good sales for London, but they were taking her out to odd places where of course no one had ever heard of her. Anyway, they only need to fill the Dury Lane for one night. It already looks like much of the stalls are already sold. I think they will be just fine for sales. And as for her voice, well it is what it is. I personally still love it and think she can find more vulnerability in her voice than people half her age. I recognise the sound is not for everyone though.

TBF, maybe these were odd places to her and places she'd never heard of?

She was in Manc 3 years earlier and got a great reception. She’ll have heard of Edinburgh but will refer to it as Edinburger. Birmingham will be Birming-HAM.

The issue isn’t whether she has heard of those places, it’s whether people in those places have heard of her. I’d suggest based on sales they haven’t. Or not enough.

Can’t wait for this.
Say what you want about Bernadette but her musicality, character and delivery are what have always made her one of the most iconic bway legends of all time. And she still has that in abundance.
And it’s likely to be one of the last opportunities to see her in person in the UK, similarly to Patti!

If no one outside of London has heard of Bernadette Peters why was the Opera House in Manchester sold out for her concert in 2016? We already know the promoters for the 2019 tour were problematic so maybe it was their fault and not regional audiences who “haven’t heard of her”. Sorry to come off as stroppy and maybe ticket sales outside of london were poor but we don’t know that. This assumption that people outside of the London MT bubble don’t know anything is predictable but very wrong.

They must be really disappointed with how this has sold.
